spiderman is back in black

I'm just going to post the obvious here.....

If changing certain characteristics isn't important....then why don't we paint a moustache on the Mona Lisa?

Who cares how stupid or ackward altering a character would look like?....what's more important is to change the character to satisfied the taste of a certain group.

Therefore, throw away originality and individuality. What's more important is what a certain group wants.

Let's all be like George Lucas and change things just for the sake of changing. And we all know how much a lot of us love that change. As Obama said in his campaign....Change!

You know, Batman originally had a gun.

superman at one point encouraged you to "slap a jap"

Once again the black people chanting YES WE CAN! Because Obama did something important. The same shit that caused Beyonce wanting to be WW.

Parker has to be black.

Bruce Wayne can also be black.

Didn't Captain America do the similar with the Germans?

Oh that's nothing. I think there was a Legion story where all the black people in the Galaxy lived on one island.

Because there's only one Mona Lisa, the physical object itself is unique. No one's advocating finding an issue of Amazing Fantasy and recoloring it. This proposal would be more like painting a mustache on a photocopy of a picture of the Mona Lisa, only crazy people would care about that.

Racist comment in 1-2-3...

I want to live in that galaxy.

And again (as usual), you missed the point of the post. Where did I mention the original? We're talking the idea of doing pointless changes to things that don't need to be change. They're fine as they are unless you happen to be George Lucas.

But I'll humor you. Yeah, painting a mustache on the original Mona Lisa would not only be crazy, but a crime. Which would get you a fine and some time in jail. Now, take a copy of the painting...paint a mustache....nothing criminal about it....idiotic and stupidity (pretty lame too) yes, but criminal, nope.

I'm black from the waist down.

you cant even get 6 inches close to the mona lisa without going to jail

You know, if that same law could be use on George Lucas...Han Solo would still be one mean badass character.

Too bad he didn't shoot first.

[EDIT NOTE]

btw- Some of you might call me a hypocrite for defending original works and at the same time altering the image of Batman and Catwoman in my siggy.

So guess what?

I don't care...I'm WD and that's final!

ok, how about this

we admit that it is probably a bad idea for a studio to make a spider-man film based around the gimmic that he is black, and you admit that there really wouldn't be anything different about the character of spider-man if he were to be made black, though it probably wouldn't work if hollywood tried.

yeah?

Again, the notion that changing Peter Parker from white to black would not affect his character improperly presumes that "whiteness" is a neutral characteristic; that it has no cultural or ethnic value; and that being white does not affect, let alone is a part of one's identity. News flash: being white in America is certainly different than being black in America. If I was black instead of white, I would be a different person; if I was female instead of male, I would be a different person; if I was straight instead of gay, I would be a different person—These characteristics are not interchangeable.

Can you say the same for a female Peter Parker? A Gay Peter Parker? A gay female Peter Parker?

but I think you guys are both sort of right. Its not that a black Peter Parker would be a mirror image of white Parker, but that there is nothing intrinsic to the mythos of spiderman (largely the "with great power comes great responsibility" shtick) that couldn't be applicable in either situation.

So a black peter could still face this issues that are relavant to black people in the modern world, its just that the racial issue wouldn't alter the spider-man character.

as far as gender or sexuality, the same would certainly apply. A male Mary Jane and homosexual Peter would put a very interesting spin on the Gwen Stacey story. It would no doubt be a differnt Parker in a different marvel universe, but it wouldn't ultimatly change anything necessary for him to be "Spider-man".

Yeah, but i'm sure you know that that was before he had amassed world popularity and renown. His character was still searching for an identity and an established fan base, besides, this only occurred a small number of times. Guns have never been synonymous with his character.

jinXed by JaNx raises a very interesting point. Props! 👆

Batman holding a gun debate is for amateurs who saw the Dark Knight and decided to become fans over night. I'm far too evolved for that type of triffle baffle. Besides, the ignore button is a marvellous idea.

nah to what? the same thing I just said nah to? that it is a bad idea to make a movie with a black spiderman, sure, cool

but do you honestly think it changes the character of spiderman to make him a black person?
