Again, not everyone thinks like you or has the same opinion as you. So stop forcing it on everyone else that disagrees with you.

Its not an opinion. Disagreeing with it just means you're wrong.

the fact that it was changed would matter to me.

true.

Why not just draw up another cool superhero and make him black? What is the purpose of making spiderman black? Draw up another, make a movie and that's it.

Comics are a margin business even with the aid of characters who's names are known almost everywhere in the world. New characters running in a title of their own are a tremendous gamble.

Presumably they were hired to make a Spiderman movie . . .

So...cash in on an establish character but make him black? I don't know how real fans feel about it but that seems a bigger gamble than making a new one.

Not to mention lazy and opportunist.

Yes, I love Storm. That would be a good movie - also, wasn't she originally from Africa or something? I don't know what I'm talking about here, I just vaguely remember 1980s toons.

That could be done really well, I feel. There is a movie about wolverine.

i agree theres no reason to change the race of a character just for equal oppurtunities for another race. dont think the black race would feel comfortable if they did another fat albert movie and they used the fat guy from superbad to play albert.

just cause it doesnt say anywhere in his or her description of a character what race they are doesnt mean race is not relevant to them. theres no need for them to say what race they are when you can look for yourself.

i agree with that but everyone's argument here is that peter's race is not important but it actually is.......

a skinny little white nerd from queens.....yea he sure isnt based around race 🙄

They haven't done anything yet. It's not even clear that they're seriously considering doing anything ever. It's fans of Donal Glover who are pushing for this not producers trying to exploit people's intense love of black nerds.

In what part of his story is "white" important? Explain to me in simple terms how being white influences the character of Spiderman. Just saying "skinny little white nerd from queens" and then going "hey look I said white!" is stupid, especially considering that he isn't a skinny little nerd in the comics.

Not to mention altering a characters race has been done with character where racial issues are very clear. Patrick Stewart has played Othello in a completely color inverted version of, er, Othello. If you color invert New York you end up with a very similar racial mix to what you started with.

he was in his origin before he got his powers.....anyways him being a "skinny little white kid" has a lot to do with his char....

he's a poor white kid in new york....who is also a genius....seriously black people are not the only people who can make claim to that kind of background....just the fact that people think "ooh if it a minority they have to be black" is retarded....truth if you look at peter parker before he got his powers he was indeed bullied, poor, nerd, SKINNY, and he put all his time into science practically....then once he got his powers he still got bullied and bullied even more from his boss that paid lousy.....you swap him and for a black person and this comes dangerously close to being racist unless you change things around a bit. so no the fact that he's white does not "define" him but it would mess with his char if it was changed.

you didnt actually answer his question. how does being "white" have any sort of impact on the things peter has gone through in the origin?

So being white is what made him get bullied? What made him skinny? What made him poor? What got him a bad job? What made him a nerd?

That doesn't make any goddamn sense.

Portrayals of blacks as intelligent people who have to struggle through a difficult life are racist?

Then ask Stan Lee why didnt he make Peter into a black kid since it doesnt make sense. But yet PARKER is WHITE anyways.

what does that have to do with anything? nick fury wasnt originally black. 😬

I can't parse this sentence.

So it's his appearance that matters. That is what defines him. Okay. Let's look at his costumes, after all that is much better known than his face.

Which of the following are Peter Parker?

All of them! I didn't even have to go outside of the 616 Universe!

Go and troll someone else.

What if they decided to make a movie of the old TV show "Good times" and decided to cast the Evans family as all white?
