spiderman is back in black

I hear the next Spider-Man movie is gonna be a reboot. Why does it even need to be rebooted? If we want to know what gave Peter his powers, people can just go watch the first SM movie that was made in 2001 or go read the comic books, either one is acceptable.

Sony wants to reboot it because they wanna try to capitolize on the 3 d fad and they didn't wanna pay sam raimi and tobey maguire a ton of money

so they would rather pay less money for noob actors to make a shitty movie that will get worse reviews than spiderman 3 ?

that about sums it up

totally absurd idea...green lantern sure... spidey forget it

or maybe because they took spider-man 3, made it a frickin musical, took spidey's greatest nemesis , turned him into a 20 min bit player and ruined a great franchise with a shite 3rd movie?

And what? you want Sony to come back to Raimi for a 4th? YA that makes perfect business sense. Spider-man is making money in box office no matter th lead, or the director, i think it's a good choice by sony to go in a new direction after the crap that was sm3.

if part 4 is a huge bomb, i won't be at all surprised if indeed raimi and maguire return..

going in a new direction does not always work, it may work for a film every once in a while but always..

i think its to soon to do a reboot. and if they did they should still use the same actors. they should wait another 5 years before rebooting.

fast and furious 3 toky drift wasnt a big sucess compared to the others but the 4th one wasnt exactly a reboot and they didnt use any new actors. they just made a new movie like what ever lets keep things going. same thing for terminator 3

Reboot with the same actors? 🤨

THIS IS "WHY" THAT WOULD BE A BAD IDEA.

wouldnt that like royally suck though? I mean can you imiagine what the uproar would have been back in the 70's when they made superman the movie if they had cast a black actor as clark kent/superman? that would have ruined the credibility of the film and it would have bombed at the box office. same with spidey. great to hear someone such as yourself and marwash as well who IS black that hates the idea. You are so right, there are some characters you just need to leave the hell alone and dont change anything about them.there are instances where like in Batman 89 when it was okay to have a black commissioner gordon but those are VERY rare cases.

Like you said so well that would be like having Blade be white or Luke Cage be white or like someone else mentioned earlier so well having a white actor play Fat Albert. well known characters around the world like that should NEVER have their races altered.with a main character like these, you just dont tamper with them like that. That was what they were suppose to look like when they were created and you just dont mess with it. anybody in their right mind would never change those black characters into white people and the same with Spiderman or Batman or Superman.

someone else really hit the nail on the head earlier why it would be the dumbest idea ever and why it would not work in the fact that you would have to change the characters of the other characters as well such as mary jane and others if you made him a black guy.

Someone brought this up before, but is Peter's Caucasian-ness really an integral park of the character?

Why would they have to change Mary Jane, Harry, Jona etc? Aunt May & Uncle Ben sure, the rest, no.

so your argument is really just racial purity?

stopped reading there, we live in a TOTALLY different time now, totally different outlooks - some of us - a 'way back then' argument is not valid in 2010, i mean really?

for almost 60 years now he has been drawn that race so thats a clue that caucasian is part of his race. same thing for fat albert. he has been drawn black all those years for a reason. what if they did a fat albert sequal to the last movie. would you prefer they used a black actor or white to play the fat albert character ?

No, he's a puritan. He places Spiderman onto a pedestal, and argues against changing it AT ALL. Just ask him: he is equally against changing Spiderman's race as he is against changing Spiderman's name, or city, or friends names, or anything. He wants the original story to be told only one way; in the original way. This is artistic strangulation in the worst way.

Poor, poor comparioson. Fat Albert being a poor black kid IS the character; it literally defines him. Poor, black and growing up in the ghetto; the stories often intertwine with black issues.

Show me one instance where Peter Parker's skin color had any bearing on the character? He's an awkward, nerdy kid with a genius intellect, that isn't skin-color prominent.

poor comparison ? where does it say he is a poor black kid and that is his character. you are giving no reason why his race is relevant.

parker grew up in a ghetto neighborhood to so that makes him black i guess huh ?

i grew up in a ghetto neighborhood for 8 years i guess im black now to.

want me to show you one instance where parkers skin had any bearing on his character ? read any spiderman comic from amazing fantasy 15 till now and look at his skin.

if his race wasnt relevant than they would have changed his race around back and fourth in every other comic they released.

they stook to drawing him that race for a reason all those years.

why is storm always black ? well thats her race from day one. and she grew up in africa right ? well there alot of whites in africa to but im not gonna say hey she could be either one because both races are around in africa. I would be just as curious if they did another x-men film and storm was white. she was black from the begening and she is still black today. same thing for parker and his race. same thing for fat albert as well.

wouldnt it be disturbing changing the characters race around back and fourth from white to black every other episode, movie, comicbook just for equal opportunities ?

Have you watched the Fat Albert cartoons from the 70's? The issues Fat Albert and crew often deal with are what is (or was) typically known as 'black issues', make him white(or Asian etc), you change an integral part of the character. This isn't the same with Peter Parker's character.

LoL, fail attempt at making me out to be some sort of bigot.

That isn't a valid reason, all you're saying is "he was always drawn with light skin", which doesn't mean shit, really. So not one example of where Peter's skin-tone mattered to the character? Does it define his personality, or who he is?

Again, poor comparison, Storm is an African priestess from a black-African tribe, her mother being black is an integral part of the character. Her ties with the tribe factor in some story lines.

If you're thinking at coming with Black Panther next, that would be a poor comparison too.

What aspects of Peter Parker make the character:

-Ackward kid
-Nerdy
-Super-intelligent
-Orphaned
-Raised by Aunt & Uncle
-Given strong sense of right and wrong by Aunt and mostly Uncle
-American

Tell me where skin-color factors in?

so for parker being defined as a white guy he would have to play hockey in his life time or baseball right ? what activities and choices describe exactly a white person ?

he is just a geeky teen yes who goes to school comes home to his aunt and uncle. hangs out with his friends who are white. puts his education before anything else.

his friends in school harry osborn, MJ, they are white
he got picked on by flash thompson who was white.

and storms mom being black makes storm black right ?

well parkers parents were white so that makes him white.

and it doesnt mean shit he was drawn light skin ? then why did they stick to drawing him light skin all those years.

and just cause storm was raised in an african tribe that doesnt make her black. there are are many whites in africa as well. african is a nationality not a race.

but im not gonna say no she can be white as well because they are whites in africa. im saying she is black because thats what her race was from day one no matter where she was from. the artist drew her that for a reason.

i can tell your just one of those who think its ok to change a race from white to black for equal opportunity just cause we have a black president now. but going from black to white is racist right ?

All the examples you gave have nothing to do with his skin color. Hockey, White friends, being picked on by a White-guy, have what to do with Peter Parker's skin color?

Again, Storm is from a BLACK-African tribe, that aspect ties in deeply with her character.

LoL, you racist much? I'm not saying "it's okay to change because Obama is President", I distinctly said before that it doesn't matter what the color of the actor is, as long as he plays true to the character.

So, not one valid example in how Peter's skin factors into the character?

edit: Did you freak-out when Kingpin was made black in Daredevil?

ive given examples but of course you cant answer my question. il give you another shot. why did they draw peter parker white all those years ? same goes for just about any other character.

and i didnt say he plays hockey or plays baseball was using that as an example as in does he need to be doing those things to describe him as a white guy or what describes a white person to you ?
