Nah, there are quite a few times where he's punched stuff. More of a boxing-brawler style. On the other hand, he barely uses close range swipes like the ones he uses in MK. Ascension with the Blades has never been a close-range swipe (i.e. with the chains un-extended)

Pretty much this. Would make little sense for a guest character on MK who is restricted to versus mode only, to have a slot with the main characters.

This game made him look better than he pretty much ever did before. uhuh Wish I could say the same for Smoke though.

Smoke looks cool to me. At least he looks more unique and it makes stand out more too.

Huh, so I see. You'd think with Li Mei being in the background of one of the stages though (same stage that Scarlet/Ruby is shown captured in chains, I think), that they'd have her as a DLC or somethin' too.

The whole thing with Raiden sending a message to himself in the past after Armageddon may change some things, like the outcome of the tournaments in the first MK games, but I don't think it necessarily changes other things, like Onaga manipulating Shujinko (under his Damashi guise) behind the scenes, which he started doing before MK1 even took place. Of course, Onaga would still need Reptile or someone to use as a host body for his return, so if Reptile canonically dies or something in this new game, then Onaga might be screwed as far as coming back.
Another thing to wonder/consider, will Blaze's original design be corrupted by Onaga's holymen and be forced to guard the great dragon egg again, in this altered timeline, or will something help change/prevent that? I think that was part of what caused Armageddon in the first place.

Also, can you believe that people on GameFAQs are actually complaining about Sonya's outfit in this game? It's just fine to me. It seems like a nod to her classic outfit and it's much better than the one she had in MKvsDC.

She reminds me of Nina from Tekken, in this game. Aint nothin wrong with that, tho.

I had no idea who Onaga is until I check the MK wiki awecoot

MK drop off the radar for me after MK4, I think I tried DA like once... didn't really liked it. Barely heard about the ones afterward.

MKvsDC was promising, but I haven't played it more than 4 times I think.

If it wasn't for the demo, I wouldn't have really cared about this game at all, methinks

Funny story. I was watching movies at home with my friends 2 weeks ago. I showed them the demo, both my girlfriend and my friend's gf looked in disgust when we pulled Fatalities and X-ray moves. I drove my friend and his gf to his home. When I came back my girlfriend was still playing the demo with my brother and already memorized a few moves. She hadn't touched a console game since Lego Star Wars 🙂

I just played this... It brought me right back to those days of playing MKII with my brother back when we had the Amiga 600. This is a must buy for me, and looks like it could very well be my favourite fighting game of the last few years.

Loved it.
