This is WIN. Gawd I hope they don't kill him again.

In theory, yeah. That would be cool, but why would they (of all characters) revive him? I doubt they'd be desperate enough to beat Kahn by bringing back a more powerful emperor who predates him.

The whole thing with Raiden sending a message to himself in the past after Armageddon may change some things, like the outcome of the tournaments in the first MK games, but I don't think it necessarily changes other things, like Onaga manipulating Shujinko (under his Damashi guise) behind the scenes, which he started doing before MK1 even took place. Of course, Onaga would still need Reptile or someone to use as a host body for his return, so if Reptile canonically dies or something in this new game, then Onaga might be screwed as far as coming back.
Another thing to wonder/consider, will Blaze's original design be corrupted by Onaga's holymen and be forced to guard the great dragon egg again, in this altered timeline, or will something help change/prevent that? I think that was part of what caused Armageddon in the first place.

Onaga was far more powerful, and he had an unbeatable army, but he wasn't the conquering-type, at least not to the extent that Shao Kahn is. So while Onaga possesses more power, Shao Kahn is the greater threat to the realms.
Also, since 'current' Raiden sent back information to 'past' Raiden, 'past' Raiden miight also know about the circumstances concerning Onaga's revival and deception of Shujinko, in addition to the manipulation of Onaga by the OB. Resurrecting him somehow would be killing two birds with one stone.

Depends. This is pretty much an alternate timeline, so events may not play out the same. Bi-Han is already dead before the first tournament that Earthrealm wins, so yeah.

~ Does this mean that Shao Kahn won Armageddon? Or that he was just able to overpower and nearly kill Raiden?

Well, I'm guessing that Kuai Liang is still human at the beginning of this game's story, but later on (towards the middle or end of the story mode) is when he becomes a cyborg, and because Cyber Subzero is shown at like the bottom of the roster, he's probably one of the last characters you unlock. Was just wondering though if it was possible that they'll still have a human Sub-zero after this game somehow. There's currently not a third brother to my knowledge, but I could kinda see them coming up with one. But I'll be good regardless as long as they don't bring back that arrogant ***** Frost.

On a different note, just read Cage's bio for this game. Sorta makes me see the character in a new light..

"There is no greater martial arts movie star than Johnny Cage. Films such as "Dragon Fist", "Time Smashers" and "Citizen Cage" have made him one of the most highly paid actors in Hollywood. But there is more to Johnny than even he knows. He is a descendant of an ancient Mediterranean cult who bred warriors for the gods -- warriors who possessed power beyond that of mortals. This legacy has made Johnny Cage a star. More important, it will aid him in the battle to come."

Was Cyber Sub-Zero ever confirmed to be canon? I mean, he might be a What-If? character.

That said, if he's canon, I don't think they would introduce a third person who adopts the name 'Sub-Zero' and is a brother to the previous Sub-Zero, but I would not put it past them.
The other proposed explanation is more likely however, IMO.

Also, that new bit on Cage is pretty cool. Hopefully he'll learn about it in the tournament, and then go on to pwn Goro's ass.

NICE. Johnny Cage could always do with more respect; he's my favourite character.

Pity the dude can be viewed as extremely cool, or a superb douchebag.

I didn't mind Frost at first to be honest, but when it was revealed that she didn't get along with Sonya, and that her arrogance caused her to think she could take over the Liu Kuei by stealing the dragon medallion from Subzero (which she got consumed by her own freezing power due to lacking the strength and discipline to control the medallion), and the other stuff she did afterward, that's when I stopped liking her.

He's always been one of my favorites too, but with that bio, I just see potential in him even more now.

Yeah.. How kewl it would be if he was the MK champion in this altered timeline instead of Liu Lame. awesome

Yeah, that's true. Didn't think of it that way. Would also be cool if resurrecting Onaga caused this kind of scenario to happen, thus him getting his revenge for being backstabbed. awesome

As for your last question there, I'm still thinking the latter. Well, it actually really depends on whether or not the Armageddon intro is actually canon. In the MKA intro, Onaga picked up Shao Kahn and flew off with him. A lot of Kahn's fanboys seem to think that he "won" Armageddon by killing Onaga, went back up the pyramid, and defeated Blaze himself. As you stated though, Onaga is much more powerful, so I don't see Kahn being able to beat him by himself in actual combat. Even in Kahn's non-canon Deception ending, he needed Goro's help to take down the dragon king, so yeah. Therefore, the MKA opening would either have to be non-canon or retconned for Shao Kahn to have possibly won Armageddon. So as it stands, I still think Kahn was just able to overpower Raiden by natural means.

That's true, didn't consider that before, either. I mean after all, Ultimate MK3/MK Trilogy had the original Sub-zero and Noob Saibot in the same game (time paradox), so it's possible that Cyber Subzero could be a "what if?".

Same here. I just hope Cyber Subzero isn't canon though with that said, because I would miss seeing human Subzero. Smoke can become a cyborg again for all I care.

lol Yeah, hopefully he will.

Indeed. The way he's presented as the latter at times is pretty much why he's hated so much by at least half the MK fanbase or so. For the longest time though, the Cage from the first MK movie played by Lindon Ashby was my favorite version of the character ever, but if things go right with Johnny in this game, MK9 Cage may actually surpass the movie Cage for me. mmm

I never cared for Frost either way, though I can see why you hate her.

I like Liu Kang, though I prefer Johnny Cage. shrug

If they have Onaga in this game, I hope he isn't as stupid as he was last time out.

Stupid in the sense that, for me at least (and i am no great player), i basically had the spam the same three to four hit combo over and over to beat him.

i don't mind a challenge, but monotony is not good.

Oh yeah, I'm with you there. Breaking the kamidogu around the sides of the stage was pretty much the only hope I had of beating him too with some characters or on certain difficulty levels. That was ridiculous I'll admit.

Aye.

He's a cool enough character though, so I won't mind seeing him again.

They already put my top 5 in the game (Cage, Kang, Zero, Kenshi supposedly, and Kitana), so anyone else is just a bonus for me.

Can somebody tell me why they put Kratos in this game and not Batman?

Yeah. My usual mains (Cage, Shang Tsung, Scorpion, and such) have already been put in too thankfully, but if possible, I would still like to see some form of Sareena, Onaga, and Li Mei as fighters in the game, especially since the last one mentioned was shown in the same stage background as Scarlet, or the 'lady in red' (if not, well, there's always next game or somethin' I guess). Speaking of that lady...

😂 @ the 2nd image. In any case, I like her appearance better now with that outfit. One of the best looking of the female ninjas, for sure, although, the thing with her being armed with throwing knives kinda reminds me a bit too much of Sareena, Kano, and some others. mmm

can't complain about that.

nice pics too.

i can't wait to play this game... the krypt is going to be such an extortionate time-sink...

Oh yeah. If this game's krypt is anything like Deadly Alliance or Deception's, it'll be very time-consuming. I like how in Deception though, certain coffins required special keys that you could only get at a certain time and place in the konquest mode. I kinda hope this game has that type of clever item-hunting element to it, too.

And if this game's krypt also has that same coin system as Deadly Alliance and Deception's, I really hope they make Onyx coins easier to get somehow, because they were normally a pain to get, with how rare they were (compared to the other coin types/colors, anyway).

p.s. Anyone remember the "cooking with Scorpion" thing and what not from the krypt? 😂

😂 yar. who'd have thought he'd be such a wiz in the kitchen.

i remember the onyx coins... i spent so much time trying to get those it was ridiculous...

Yeah.. Even with the whole tactic with using an extra controller to make an alt file to open up certain coffins that contain onyx coins, and then playing versus mode with both files, having your 2nd controller wage all of its coins, beat the dummy player, etc., it was still pretty tedious to get just enough coins needed for your original file.

About time. Was beginning to think this guy wouldn't get his own little special trailer before the game came out.

YouTube video

I know his youth form is in the game as well. Just he starts out with the old man appearance (a la MK1) at the beginning I guess, which likely becomes an alt costume too.

But ouch @ what he did to Johnny Cage there. D: Still find him and his style cooler than his "master" though, at any rate.

badass. and yeah, i prefer the younger version too.

btw, anyone see the short clip leaked from mortal kombat legacy with mjw? wasn't bad imo...

Nah, haven't seen it.. If it's still there, mind posting it?
