Bad episode and absolutely terrible, embarrassingly bad ending. Should have been their Red Wedding moment, instead it's one of the worst botches of a potential great moment I have ever seen.
Would them showing who got brained have made it great or is more than that for you?

😂 Nvm. I forgot that you're the guy who trolls here after every single episode.Troll on! 👆
True Dat! But it must be said. It is not the Job of the Viewer to Pay Attention, but it is the Job of the Show to Grab My Attention.
TWD fails to do that....for about 3 seasons now.

That's an understatement of how bad that ending was... I think im done with TWD.

It would have made the moment very impactful and less cheesy. The rest of the episode still would have been supbar, but it wouldn't have mattered very much because the death, if done right, would have been the most powerful and horrifying scene in the history of the show. Instead we got some goldeneye blood running down the screen.
JDM was good though, so there's at least that.

The whole build-up to Negan's arrival... along with Negan's monologue, of course... was really well done, imo. Heck, I even enjoyed the Morgan/Carol side-story for the most part.

I mean, we've seen legitimately 'bad' episodes before. I honestly don't think this was one of them--a cliffhanger doesn't taint the whole episode for me... But different strokes, I suppose. /shrug

An issue was that I don't think the episode warranted an extra 30 minutes of run time. I think an hour would have been fine. But yes, the build up was solid, but that's not enough for a 90 minute episode. I didn't really care for the Carol/Morgan stuff.

Probably the point, they want people to be talking about it until October
Well, that would have been achieved either way, it's not like when the Red Wedding happened people forgot about it the next season. And this moment really would have been TWD's Red Wedding. Instead of speculating about who dies, people would be speculating how their death will impact the following season(s) and talking about how horrifying the death was. Instead people are just going to speculate like it's some poorly written soap opera, which is how that cliffhanger felt, to me.

Fair enough, the cliffhanger did frustrate me but I can see their angle in leaving it like that. Anticipation for the next season just to see who's dead is there and will remain all the way to October.
Yeah he was.
Originally posted by BackFireProbably could have packed the meat & potatoes into a standard episode, I guess. I just think Producers really wanted that extra time to drive home exactly how helpless Rick(and co.) were, as a means of building-up Negan and the Saviors--and in that regard, they definitely succeeded.... Rick's failure was complete.

Originally posted by BackFireA buildup like that needs a payoff. As it is right now the buildup was basically to next season, and not to the death. It took an hour and a half to advertise next season.

Even Negan as neat as he was was basically a buildup to next season. Had who died been shown there would have been an actual closure to the season and people would still be awaiting the show just as bad. Now it's just a "**** this season, what happens next?"
Not to mention again, they didn't even show the ****ing murder.
They better at least show the death from a different point of view next season... if they don't 😂
