I know! Daryl the tank buster, using a walker as a walking meat shield. Tyreese
Spoiler:
suddenly getting saved by those kids as he was cornered
was also jaw-dropping. Carol taught them well.

Just rewatched the episode and still blown away by it all.

Damn. There were a few differences from my prediction of the show, but overall I am glad that the showmakers decided to stick to the comics in this regard by making the battle a complete bloodbath, without it being too similar to the comics as well.

And Lily killed the Governor. I called it.

Also, Michonne not saying to the Guvnuh, "Told ya" = class.

Spoiler:
Big deal now is that the group is fractured and many more could still die.

I really thought Beth was going to be taking Lori's place, crushing the baby--who just disappeared, leaving only a small pool of blood behind. Just like Lori. Somehow.

That this was only the mid-season is kind of awesome. I was worried they were going to drag out the Governor for an entire season. They scrapped his redemption sub-plot, but they scrapped him altogether, so it worked out.

Man, what an episode.

[spoil]The Governor was a brutal villain. He is also my favorite character in the show. It sucks he killed one of my other top characters (Hershel), and got killed. That just leaves Rick and Daryl for me.

Judith getting killed (?) was damn sad, as was the Governors new little girl getting killed. It bugged me how little he cared about that, but he is the villain I suppose.

I feel for Daryl too. Lost his brother, and one of the people he cares about most got kicked out. I'm going to call it now. Lizzie was the one who burned those bodies, and Carol took the blame for her. I'm also guessing the mutilated animal art was her's. The girls a psychopath, and a great shot. Now that Carol got kicked out, I'm guessing Daryls going to end up taking "custody" of those girls and will slowly find out how psychotic that little girl is. Tyreese is also going to end up finding out, and will want some form of retribution. That's going to send him and Daryl on a collision course. That, or he'll leave it alone since she also saved his life by shooting those two survivors in the face. At least, that's my theory of were that's going to go.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the season. Since the group is all splintered and separated, I'll bet that we'll get another massive time skip before they're all back together. I'm glad we're done with the prison too. That was getting a bit boring and predictable.[/spoil]

Overall, great mid-season finale. This is what last seasons finale should have been.

F*ckin' A. 👆

Something tells me that isn't the first tank he's raped.

Was his death confirmed on The Talking Dead(didn't watch it this week)..? Because when I watched the episode originally, I got the feeling there may still be a chance for him to be alive-- mainly due to the fact that we didn't see him die like we did everyone else.

Perhaps the shot we saw Lily fire(mind you, we never saw it hit the Governor) was actually used to kill one of the Walkers that was about to eat him, and she carried him to safety afterward..? /shrug

I'm gonna call a shot: those two girls who shot the woman invader who was about to kill Tyresse...they were trained by Carol, were they not? That's going to figure into Tyresse's reaction when he learns Carol killed Karen and David. In effect: Carol saved Tyresse's life.

If that had been the case, I would've felt the Governor died too soon then. I'm glad they dragged it & him out till the mid-season finale of 4, so we got to see more of another side of his character before everything went south for him.

Didn't watch Talking Dead either, though as much as I wouldn't mind that being the case with the Governor, it sounds like awfully wishful thinking to me. I mean he was killed by someone named Lily in the comics too, albeit, not the same Lily as in the show.

Also, sneek peek of the next episode for February. Unsurprisingly, Rick still seems like a broken man, with Hershel's death, Judith's disappearance, and the prison being compromised and all.

That stab either nicked his aorta or it punctured a lung. He couldn't so much as move or talk, so whether or not his lover headshot him is kind of irrelevant. TTD confirms that the Guvna is no moah.

I highly doubt that the little girl dragged two adult bodies into the courtyard and burned them. Also, the handprint was adult-sized that Rick saw on the door.

Not really 'wishful' thinking(I hope he stays dead.) I just thought the scene was a little odd because we didn't see him die-- everyone elses deaths were outright shown.

But it turns out that his death WAS confirmed on TTD, so it's a moot point either way.

Well, there goes that idea...

Glad it was confirmed, though. I was really hoping they wouldn't recycle the Governor. 👆

I doubt Carol is the actual killer. Rather I think she was just covering for one of those kids. Perhaps Carol burned them afterwards but it seems fairly clear now that one of those kids was the killer.

Edit: Seems I'm not the only one who thought this.

I agree. Those were hands down my favorite episodes in the series so far, so I am glad that we got them.

You're right, but I still think she was the killer. Maybe Carol burned the bodies to cover for her.

+1

Even Daryl said that murdering those people isn't Carol, and he knew her best.

I could do without that reverse-twist for Carol. They built her up over this season as someone who's been hardened through experience and willing to do what it takes to save the group from perceived threats. Going from meek and weak to that was a good arc for her, and I'd hate to see it compromised by revealing that she was just covering for a psychotic little girl.

Speaking of whom, if that girl (I still don't remember her name) is to be a part of the show from here on, she'll need a story of her own. And they've already been establishing that. They've been establishing that she's strange and "weak", not proactive, murderous, or able to take the initiative in a morally ambiguous, weighty (in more ways than one) task. Making it so she's been like that all along detracts from the lessons that the now ethically-grey Carol has been teaching her. These characters are interesting when they're given transformations--reneging on Creepy Girl's would be disappointing and annoying. It's why as badass and cool as Daryl is, he's not interesting. Governor was, to an extent. Rick and Carl are. Carol is. It's because they've changed--we've seen them grow as people, and not always in a good way.

Daryl's grown. His hair has grown and Season 1 Daryl couldn't have taken out a tank.

Yeah, during that time he was still just living under Merle's shadow.

Bout time the prison is behind them. They were far too comfy there for the. Out part. Loved the back and forth between the Governor and Rick. Both men could be the hero and the villain. Governor chooses in the end to be the monster and give into the Hyde persona. Really great character. I was surprised he beat the utter shit out of Rick also.

Yeah.. With what the Governor went through or had to go through as a survivalist (like after Woodbury), I guess he eventually became stronger than Rick as a result. Rick may have become softer after awhile compared to before because of the peace of mind he found while living in the prison.

If it was bloodlusted Rick back when right after Lori died though, the Governor might've had more trouble against him there 😂 (keyword being might).

We have to factor in the sheer size advantage the Governor has on Rick. That's why I think he won. I don't think Rick lost due to being soft.
