The Walking Dead

So, in today's episode, Carl Grimes:

Spoiler:

-Acts like a smug prick for majority of the episode.

-Barely escapes a bunch of Walkers, and then boasts of his victory like quanchi.

-Falls about 5 times, and cannot get back up.

-Writes that a Walker got a shoe, but not him, on a door.

-Eats some pudding on a ceiling.

-Cries like a b1tch.

And according to Rick, he is a man.😬

Mhm. Okay, Rick. Sure.

👆

If that's how TWD execs are going to depict "character development", they can keep it. The last 5-10mins of this episode was okay--the rest was turrible, imo.

Oh crap this back on?!

Finally Michonne's getting some characterization. Carl too. Having him just be moody or stoic only goes so far.

Decent episode, but on looking back. I don't understand the logic of how Michonne's Pet Walkers trick works? I mean ..
1. Why would having a couple of walkers on a leash (which are a few feet away from Michonne most of the time) keep the other walkers from noticing her
and
2. Why would cutting off the Walkers arms and jaws suddenly make them not want to eat her?
I can possibly see them being "retrained" after a few days but not just a couple of minutes.

1. In the second episode, the walkers apparently can be deterred by smell alone. They don't use much of their visual sense to determine friend/foe.

2. This is unclear. For what it's worth, Penny became more docile through exposure and restraints.

Sundays, 9 EST.

You can rewatch this missed episode before the next one this coming Sunday. It wasn't terribly profound, except for Michonne development. Carl needs to develop too, so I understand what they're going for here. I just think the next episode, which focuses on the other survivors, will be so much better.

With someone still young like Carl, of course he's going to be doing some stupid things before he gets better character/development wise. He pretty much met my expectations on this episode, even when it came to needlessly using/wasting a bunch of bullets and carelessly almost getting killed a few times. lol Overly headstrong kid.

But yeah, Michonne was the highlight of the episode. The flashback with her having the sword in a kitchen was... interesting.

I think my favorite characters must be Michonne, Glenn, and Daryl.

Really? I thought the opposite. The next episode is pretty much B squad + Daryl.

Anyway, I enjoyed the episode. I've never really liked Carl but this episode went a long way with developing him. It really showed that he still is a kid at heart who needs his dad more than anything else. And, like others said earlier, Michone got some much needed development.

I was hoping that

Spoiler:
fake zombie Rick was going to slap
Carl when he was moaning and reaching out.

I guess the episode has its strengths, but it felt very small and contained. Considering the huge impact the mid-season finale had, this felt rather anti-climatic.

Yes, felt a bit small indeed… I don't like spending a whole episode on Carl-becoming-a-man… that's what's happening all during the series.

But what the heck: the season is on the way again: YAAYYY!

I don't know why people were expecting the mid-season premiere to be some sort of action-packed, drama-fest akin to a finale. That would be emotionally draining and overwhelming. After such a huge climax you need to take some time to slow things down, let the characters and audience catch their breath before you start building to the next crescendo. And it's in those moments where it makes the most sense to continue building (or re-building) the characters. That the writers avoided a generic "bang bang, blood-and-guts, explosions! everywhere" episode so soon after the last just makes rational sense. It's the Cletus and Dianes of the world who only care about the "Hur hur I's likes it when da zombies gots shot hur hur." Thank god the producers don't cater to that sad demographic.

I can't wait to see what effect that over a year old pudding will have on Carl. If you think the ZombApoc was bad.....

Diarrhea, cha-cha-cha.

You are one angry motherphucker. 👆

I eat cliches and simple-mindedness for brunch. Because I'm too intense for breakfast.

This episode was more enjoyable. Sometimes the one-two people, low intensity suspense episodic format is good, but not right after a major battle scene. This one was much better, showing how the others were scattered, and giving each a branching point from the previous half of the season.

Spoiler:
Lizzie is ****ed up.

Tyreese has no clue.

Maggie is unraveling.

But it's all good.

TTD pretty much nailed it though; why did they not have a meeting place in case the prison was overrun? It's not like they weren't threatened with the growing hordes.

That's like asking why all their clothes are so clean and in intact after all this time: because of reasons.

Anyone else think Lizzie is like a younger, serial killer version of Kesha?

...Or how they're always so clean-shaven.

Lizzie is going to be a huge problem down the road.

This reminds me of how in the first season people noticed that the lawn a the CDC was very well maintained even thru the Zombie Apoc.
