What utter blasphemy to say that about Jesus. It's just over and over again with you, isn't it?
As-salamu alaykum, you tool of evil.

All rapists and pedophiles are atheists. FACT. Jesus wants us to kill dem non-believers, so that He can make the world a more peaceful place.
To take your comment seriously, even demons in the New Testament acknowledge and recognize Jesus. Simply knowing that "Jesus is the Christ" is not even remotely enough to obtain salvation.
Every time I hear a "Christian" say, "Jesus is my personal Lord and Savior", I get a frumpy face. Great, so you are on the same level as the mythical demons of the New Testament: who cares?
If it were easy enough, according to Christianity, to obtain Eternal Salvation but just confessing (with sincerity) that Jesus was your personal Lord and Savior, then a Third of the Hosts of Heaven would also have salvation.
Atheists are not the ultimate evil. The Ultimate Evil would be a being that knows with a perfect knowledge everything about God and purposefully works against God. That is supposedly the role Lucifer fulfills.

does it require active resistance (like would I have to destroy Bibles or something), or would someone who simply thinks we are better off without a God (anti-theists, maybe a soft version of that) also be evil?

No, you'd have to have a sure knowledge (transcendent) of:
1. God exists.
2. God's goals and objectives, and
3. How you can fulfill #2 (basically, what you're supposed to be doing)
And then...you work directly opposite. To put it more succinctly, you'd have to be Moses, Joseph Smith, or some other fella that supposedly obtained a sure knowledge (again, transcendent) of God's existence and plans and then work directly opposite of that. Basically, it is pretty much impossible to be part of the "Ultimate Evil". Supposedly, Judas is part of the group of "Ultimate Evil".
As a side note, "Ultimate Evil" is just a label I give it. Mormons call this concept/group the "Sons of Perdition" but, iirc, that is not quite the same group I am describing. I believe my label is more broad. A better term would be "the true anti-Christ" and in this label, "anti-Christ" is a plural noun similar to "Jedi" because more than one person can fit into that group.
I said all that to say this: it is very very very unlikely that any anti-theistic atheist is part of the "Ultimate Evil" group. Why? Because no one can claim a transcendent knowledge of God EXCEPT the possibility of a very very very few people (less than 10?). Even those that supposedly did so can only confirm to themselves (a subjective truth) that they did obtain it. So, really, the only people that know for a fact that you are truly part of that Ultimate Evil are you and God.

Are we at least a little bit evil? The edgy atheist thing plays great with coeds.

Do you think most Christians understand that atheists truly do not believe? In some cases its clear that actual atheism is inconceivable to people and it can only be thought of as "still believes in God but hates him."
