The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

I have currently reached the Ancient Cistern. Going back into the forest temple was a little annoying, but at least it was only a short trip and they changed things up to compensate.

All in all, I find the controls to still be holding up, after having played about 11 hours. They're responsive, and the new items like the beetle use motion control in pretty decent ways.

I'm liking the story, though it seems more like it comes in chunks between the adventure zones rather than all being woven together.

I just love it how Yahtzee manages to get people all teary-eyed and butthurt with his reviews.

Hard to make me teary-eyed or butthurt when I see his work as nothing more than satire.

Isn't it awesome?

I've yet to see someone sensible whose taken these "reviews" seriously or actually be upset by them, but it just amazes me how shit this unfunny (for the most part) makes its way to being posted in nearly every thread.

He just nitpicks incessantly. Some games he actually likes but still complains. That's his shtick. Watch the one from a couple of weeks ago about Skyrim. He nitpicked but in the end, he said he liked it. Same with Saints Row the Third.

But, from I watched, he has good points. You might not agree but some people on this thread, me included, saw some of the same things he did.

He's allegedly contractually obligated to point out any flaw of a game he finds, and people also don't really like it when he is nice to a game. If he likes the game though, as Smas said, after ripping at its flaws he will acknowledge if the game is good or not, along with sometimes pointing out things that are good. He's a critic, not a reviewer, there is a difference.

Still love how butthurt some people get over it though.

Indeed. Very funny to watch. He seems to have liked Wind Waker. Like everyone else on the bloody internet.

Wind Waker>Ocarina of Time.

Come at me bro.

I'd agree were it not for that damn triforce hunt.

The Triforce Hunt was indeed its glaring flaw, the one that keeps it from achieving the greatness of Majora's Mask.

It is indeed. Especially when people try to deny it.

"In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so."

Get that Pixar shit out of here. estahuh

I'll permaban your ass. pissed

Timeline released in Japan?!

If so that's screwed up... A timeline where Link fails in OoT. That pretty much makes all those games void IMO.

I love that there is a timeline where Link fails in OoT.

I wonder if there's a timeline divergence where Zelda slips on a banana peel and breaks her neck.

EDIT: Or one where Ganondorf chokes to death on a pork chop.

It also makes no sense.

I wouldn't take this one too seriously considering that up until recently Nintendo officially sanctioned a timeline on their website in which Link was one and the same in all the games. The only things on there that make sense other than obvious sequels are Minish Cap being a prequel, Oracles being a sequel to Zelda II, and Link's Awakening being a sequel to Oracles.

I'm not exactly a timeline guru but what doesn't make sense? And why doesn't it? (Except, of course, FSA being tacked onto the Child timeline.)

Well, three things right off the bat. First FSA is clearly a direct sequel to FS, these are the same characters. Second, the Master Sword sleeps forever in the ending to ALTTP but it's used in Oracles. Third, Hyrule has clear geographic and structural simularities in the first three games and in the two Four Swords, indicating that they all take place within the same time frame.

Wait, so other than "coming out of the earth", does this game at all state where the monsters and Demise actually came from?
