If what doesn't make sense contradicts the movie, it absolutely can. Yoda's whole mission was to destroy the Sith; why would he let Palpatine go? That defies his entire purpose for being there. That's not just bad choreography, that was a stupid move, which is probably why you don't see that bullshit in the movie.

First of all it only says Palpatine looks doomed he may not be. Secondly, there may have been factors why Yoda decided to leap from the Podium, perhaps Sidious's lightning was to strong for Yoda to block with his saber afterall he loses his lightsaber to the lightning later on. Thirdly, it fits in perfectly with the movie, hell we see Yoda leaping down from the Chancellor's Podium. And finally, it's canon whether you like it or not and can not simply be dismissed.

Thank you for the concession, Enyalus. You'd think by now you'd stop trying to argue and just accept it.

I'll annihilate you very soon. Promise.

You played upon my vanity by reminding me that I provided that particular Sidious > Yoda + Obi-Wan quote. I couldn't resist your dark seductions.

I think Darth Maul would pwn Kas'im

Yeah...

Except that quote was false for a variety of reasons.

He clearly wasn't, otherwise he would have died. But that has nothing to do with the fact that, according to script, Palpatine was losing at this particular part of the duel.

And yet none of those are mentioned in the script. None.

...And Sidious is already half a mile away, flinging pods, so it doesn't fit with the movie.

Wrong, it isn't canon. And if my word alone isn't good enough (which it is), there's the simple fact that it doesn't fit in with the rest of the movie, script, or novelization.

I always thought that Yoda left because he knew the future of the order depends on him surviving.
