Plays are drawn up, the coaches give each of their players a job to do. But the plays do not always work out as expected. Sometimes players have to improvise, adapt to the blitz, shit like that. High caliber players are expected to create opportunities, to think on their feet, to turn a 5 yard loss into a 20 yard gain. To rush in, spin past the O line (technique), and crush the QB. You didn't even watch the vid I posted before, did you?

Check out Eli Manning and Tyree here:

Yeah, no creativity indeed 🙄 That play is the very epitome of creativity and technique.

Yeah, I watched that vid, as far as I can see he probably just executed the game plan. Looks like a normal American football play to me. Don't see any exceptional creativity. Forcing you're way through a couple of guys and making a few turns a long the way doesn't equal creativity. Certainly not the epitome of creativity anyway. And when I'm talking about creativity in football I'm not talking about Ronaldinho's trickadee, I'm talking about Andrea Pirlo, Andres Iniesta or Xavi tactically opening up a defense.

YouTube video

But that brings me to the point I adressed earlier, I don't know enough about American football and you don't know nearly enough about football to actually make this a valid discussion. It's been tedious for a while now and I usually tend to avoid this discussion anyway, as there really is no point to it. You prefer American football, I prefer actual Football and that's perfectly fine.

Hey, I'm all for you liking what you like and me liking what I like, go for it.

But know this: When you say that AF is not a creativity/technique based sport, you're full of shit. If anything, it has more room for this than soccer.

Yeah, this part right here, made no sense whatsoever.

I'll reword it.

Take all of the head coaches from the Union of Europen Football Associations, give them all a Stanford-Binet 5 IQ test, and then average all of their results.

Then, take all of the head coaches from the National Football League, give them all a Stanford-Binet 5 IQ test, and then average all of their results.

Then, compare the two averages.

I said that that the NFL head coaches would have a higher average IQ than the UEFA head coaches, easily.

Does that make sense?

I'm sure you're aware of that though. Knowledge on the sport of American football or actual football doesn't have that much to do with IQ. Actually I'm pretty sure most NFL coaches are idiots just as much as European football coaches are.

Incorrect. It is very much like a chess-match. And guess what is strongly correlated to success at the highest levels? You guessed it: IQ.

In fact, at higher levels (collegiate and Pro), coaching football is more mentally taxing and complex than several games of chess.

As for RJ, as I said you can go on naming players that are somewhat creative and some situations that require a teeny bit of creativity. However, my point is, American football is not a creativty or technique-based sport.

But it is: that's the 2/3 of the entire sport: creativity and technique. Guess what the third portion is?: Physical ability. 😬

Guess what soccer is?

Creativity, Technique and...get this...physical ability.

QB fades back. His number 1 WR is covered, he checks off to number 2. The blitz is on. WR 2 is double teamed. QB checks off to WR 3. He feels the heat, leaves the pocket and scrambles. He either finds a WR, or he tucks and runs.

Creativity, technique.

And physical ability. He can't tuck and run if he doesn't have the agility to be faster than the D-back about to rape him. 🙂

There was a guy like that. But he was 6'3", 240, and ran it in 4.2 seconds. I think he played for the Lions. This was back in the early 00s...and he was my idol. (I played defensive line and Line Backer.)

Barry Sanders is a classic example of someone who had to constantly create something out of nothing. Half of his big runs were potential 5 yard losses.

God his OL sucked.

Yes it did. He was twice the RB that Payton was.

Maybe, but ol' Walt was pretty ****in good too.

Walter was that much better on paper because of his line, same as Emmitt Smith.

True. Imagine how awesome the lions would have done if Sanders had a decent line to work with. I bet they would have won like 4 super bowls in a row or something.

Hell yeah, if he had played for the Cowboys..........DAMN......

Indeed.

The Cowboys OL was famous for giving Aikman hours to throw...cept when they played the Eagles: 8 out of 11 of his concussions came from the Eagles D!

The Lions shoulda traded him, as he wanted. They could have gotten a WR, a decent QB, and maybe a RB, and could have rebuilt.

Damn....

Soccer hid back IN the closet to get rid of this shit! Soccer isn't in the closet anymore. Now, 'tis srs business.

****in hell, man. Buncha innocent people went to watch the sport they love and get blown up by terrorists. What a lovely world.
