Yes, and I know Christians are taught to turn the other cheek.

So I'm not a perfect Christian, willing to be the bigger & better man I guess. But I have lots of company.

The Saudi's - just try to figure out who's side they've on. It's only because they own 4% of America; that's the reason action hasn't been taken against them for their jihadists.
Nope, the only reason the usa will never take action against saudi arabia is that it's a main oil supplier and political ally (some would say puppet), whose regime has been backed by US government for decades guaranteeing the interests of american groups too far above the american middle class and its concerns with terrorism to ever be contrariated. The very reason saudi arabia is full of anti-american militants and therefore a fertile recruiting ground for al-qaeda is that so many of them hate the us backed house of saud and its govenremnt.

You don't hold the secular political principle of freedom of worship very highly either do you?

The proposal of a mosque at Ground Zero is too loaded a proposition. I go back to my Pearl Harbour example.

So in your opinion, Islam attacked on 9/11?

So was Jesus.

What about it? Oahu makes most of its money from Japanese tourists, there are so many Japanese people on the island that you can stay there and barely ever speak English. And in retrospect the treatment of the Japanese population of the US following the attack is considered one of the worst over reactions in American history.

Atheism is so edgy.

If this is about symbolism, then build a church across the street from it. You can't miss the meaning.

Well, that's actually true, atheism is quite the "in" thing in some ways.

There is a practice of converting non-muslim places into mosques after conquest.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conversion_of_non-Muslim_places_of_worship_into_mosques

So no matter how well-intentioned the gesture in NYC might be, to radical muslims around the world, I think it would be seen as a symbol of victory.

Yes..I think this entire project is Islam trying to gain a foothold in America.

"Conversion of non-Muslim houses of worship into mosques began during the life of Muhammad and continued during subsequent Islamic conquests and under the Muslim rule. As a result, numerous Hindu temples, churches, synagogues, the Parthenon and Zoroastrian temples became mosques."

Pretty sure this gym/Mosque isn't going up in the ashes of where a church once stood.

The whole project is being considered to foster better relations between the Muslims and the West. Europe is already undergoing islamization, where Muslims cry about the rest of the world being insensitive to their needs. America could be next.

Lulz, are you Dracula?

I know there is. Would there be this much of a flak if this this was Queens, or even the Bronx? No - it's because it's Ground Zero.
And no matter how many positive platitudes you could manufacture, to radical Islamists the message would be: "We've knocked down their place of worship (WTC = Money) and erected one of our own!"

Well, if they think they won maybe they'll stop terrorizing?
