That soul suck technique is so lame, it takes Thor time to evoke this technique, he has to pray to this and that, and that would mean that Thanos would just sit there and say hey uhmmm, I'm going to just sit here and let nature boy suck my soul out (if that would even work on Deaths Avatar). Thanos was able to impress even Galactus by tanking his cosmic blast, which I would dare to say has a larger power yield than anything that Thor can muster. Thor loses here plain and simple.

Clearly you didnt read the comic book where he kills Loki with it; he just wills it...points...fires.

But Thanos is not Loki, nor is Loki an avatar of death, and he did say prayers in that book before leeching Loki's soul, and Loki does not possess shields that could stop such an assault, and Loki is not in the same league as Thanos, Nor can Thor throw power around like Galactus, which Thanos survived. Thor loses here.

The soul attack isn't instantanious, and Thanos has one shotted Thor before (After Thor and Thing knocked him into a mountain.)

Yeah...and a non-jobbing Thor would use Mjolnir to absorb any energy attack Thanos uses against him...then counter with the Anti-Force.
Then finish him off with Soul Suck...
Anyway you spin it, Thanos dies...

Thanos can always try just knocking him out physically.
Or just keep attacking him with energy. Thanos can tank a lot of energy, while he only needs one good attack to knock Thor out..

So what was Odin hitting Thanos with when he was assaulting him? Was it a physical assault or magical? What did Thanos use to counter this attack? Could it have been his shields?

Thor, at his best, has feats that are just as good as any of Thanos's and arguably better in some cases...
Thor has stood up to attacks from the Celestials themselves and was able to keep fighting; contrast this to Thanos who could barely withstand a single attack from Galactus...and thats WITH his shields taking the worse of it (and crumbling as a result).
Thanos failed to actually harm Galactus, while Thor succeeded in harming him...
So, no...Thanos is NOT "obviously" above Thor when he is at his best...

Thanos just tanked an anti matter explosion that was stuck to his chest, Galactus can melt planets with his farts, while sleeping, he was actually trying to kill Thanos in the event that you're talking about. Without Mjolnir I would love to see what an anti matter blast would do to Thor.
No I think that you're wrong friend, Thor is below Thanos in terms of power, and strength. Unless you think that Beta Ray Bill, could ko Thanos like he did to Thor when Thor lost his hammer to Bill.
