STAR WARS: RETROSPECTON- Song of Remembrance

"What this?" He asks picking up whatever Tarinda is pointing at.

"That!" she says, pointing at something again. You don't see anything until she reaches in and grabs... what looks like a release tab. She gives it a tug and the bottom of your suitcase comes out!

Underneath are two things- a long cylindrical piece of metal, and a strange rifle.

"Oh, cool..." Alek says as he picks the cylinder up for closer inspection.

It feels incredibly familiar and comfortable in your hands. Smooth and cool, it is made of metal and possesses rubber hand grips. It appears to connect at the middle and unclips easily when you give it a slight twist. The ends flare out, almost like flash hiders for a blaster rifle.

I do not know if you put buttons or switches on there... but this is YOUR lightsaber! You vaguely recall building it... with some instruction from... Kuylen? You are not sure what this all means.

Alek stands and twirls the handle round a few times with an almost child like curiosity. "This is mine, I built this!" He stops twirling it and activates one side and then the other "Why would I have a light sabre?" Making sure there is space, he carefully swishes it around and then deactivates it again. "I need to find out what is going on, and who I am..." He walks over to where Takuan is laid up to see if he is awake again yet.

The blade glows a bright purple and hums sharply when you activate it.

Takuan has dozed off in the small medical bay that the ship houses. He has been given an IV drip of some sort of medicine to fight the inflicted nerve paralysis. You have no idea if it is working.

Alek doesn't disturb him though he does sit down to wait while he recovers consciousness. What can you tell me, what is this all about... He muses to himself while he waits.

It will be some time before Takuan comes around. Tarinda has followed you in there. She has the weird rifle with her.

"What do you mean you made it?" Tarinda asks. "Wouldn't that mean you're... you know... one of them?"

He looks up "Hmm, that is certainly what you'd think!" With a puzzled expression he continues "Maybe this is why that guy on Karky wanted me so badly. I just wish I could remember, and this man must hold the key to my memory..."

You are certain that you were not the main target on Karkarvos, Alek. Takuan was. But you were definitely being roped in yourself. You feel fortunate to have made it out of there alive... and really, you question how you did it. If you were really just a singer in a band, where did you develop your fighting skills?

"Why wouldn't you remember?" Tarinda asks. "Just... amnesia, or whatever?"

"I really don't know..." He says as he gets up and heads for the cock pit. "Hey kid, where we going to, and just out of curiosity have we met before, and do you know anything about my past?" He tones his voice to imply that not answering is not an option.

"Pfft, no," the boy says, not taking his eyes off the controls. "We've never met. What a stupid question! Wouldn't you KNOW if we had? And I can't tell you where we're going. It's a secret, so don't ask!"

What an angst-ridden little brat...

"Ha, you obviously know less than me then!" He shrugs "simply put I was in some sort of an accident and can't remember anything before my time singing with the Tarinda's band." He gently kicks the back of the pilots chair to wind the kids up and chuckles "Sooo, I can't ask where we're going, can I ask why it's a secret...?"

"Look, you furry freak," the boy snaps. "All I know is that you're important to my Master for some reason, and that you're friends with Takuan or whatever. You can't ask because I'm not allowed to tell you."

He adopts a nice reasonable tone and says "Okay then, can you at least tell me how long till we get there?"

He estimates it will take the rest of the day.

He sits down, holds the light sabre gently. He then sings softly as he settles his mind to ponder what it means. He is trying to bring out any memories that might be still lingering about in the depths of his mind.

Where are you elusive thought?
Ever searching ever sought,
lost within all the troubles bought?

Where are you my life's past?
Were you lost within a blast,
To soon come again at long last?

Where are you, memories gone?
It seems to me, away too long,
To maybe found within a song...?

Tarinda watches you sadly.

It is a full day before the ship drops out of hyperspace, as the boy told you. When it does, you nearly fall out of your seat as the boy gave no warning. Tarinda wakes up from a nap, startled by the sudden deceleration.

Out the viewports you see a small gray planet.

"Well that looks nice..." He says as they head towards the planet. "I take it we're here!" He shouts to their cheerful little pilot.

"Yup," the boy says, not paying you much attention as he goes through landing procedures. The ship drops down into the planet's atmosphere, greeted by an impenetrable fog. You have a hard time understanding how the boy even knows where he is going, knowing enough about flying to know that these are not at all ideal flight conditions.

The boy struggles with the controls for a moment before the ship sets down roughly in some muddy area.

"Watch your step outside," the boy says, taking off his flight gear. "The steam vents really suck if you fall in them."
