What? The Beginnings episodes are the highlight of Book 2.
I think he was saying that the show itself got better after Beginnings. While Beginnings is far and away the best thing to come from the show it is also far removed from the plot. The two are almost entirely separate.

Eh, I'd say stuff before Beginnings was far removed. The main conflict after was kinda tied to it, since it set us up for the rest of it. But yeah, Beginnings was a self-contained story, and that contributed to its greatness IMO.

That's where it peaked imho. Things plummeted the moment Unalaaq said "Dark Avatar".Granted, things plummeted whenever Unalaaq was on screen anyway, but I digress.
Indeed. While the concept itself was alright IMO (after all, there has to be someone who can challenge the Avatar, and the theme of opposites/balance is a pretty big thing), they just handled it extremely poorly.

We have the President, Korra, Tenzin(at first), the White Lotus agents, Mako, Lin...I could give reasons why as soon as I move to a desktop.
The president is being a dick but to be fair to him, not that he deserves it, he is taking advantage of the Anti-Korra sentiment to somewhat boost favor.
Korra's decision was in Book 2 and the birth of new airbenders is a good thing. Besides she is handling a lot of situations with a lot more maturity than she would have in the past. The scene with the guy on the bridge for instance was perfect.
Tenzin just doesn't know how to sell Airbending. And to be fair to him it is something that usually doesn't need to be done. Besides he went with Bolin's clever idea without dismissing it and he is trying his hardest.
The White Lotus are mooks, not people.
Mako is being dumb but last season he was hypercompetent so why not show him being a bit dumb.
Lin...has she even really appeared? I can't recall her.
I dunno to me they aren't acting any dumber than the ATLA cast could at times.
