Avatar: The Legend of Korra

Okay now that I'm good to go I can respond in kind.

The President is more of a complaint about the people than him. Well to be honest, the whole "Tree's are bad" campaign seems silly to me especially since the city itself doesn't appear to be doing anything to get rid of the vines themselves. And if "tree/vines" are so bad why send away the only person who could possibly fix it? Then again this could've just been away to get rid of Korra.

Not talking about Korra in Republic City, I'm talking about her character regression when she left: though I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt because of Kai.

Tenzin could've did better and in fact has done better as we've seen in book 1. I was expecting him to be more diplomatic about the whole thing other that "Give me airbenders"

Agree on the White Lotus

Mako's still dumb

And Lin...okay I take this one back I'm still a little mad about season 2.

Note I'm not ragging on all the characters though Asami could use an utility belt.

Well it is an inconvinience for a good number of people and Korra clearly didn't know how to fix it. So hey, why not send her away?

Oh you mean when she fought with that one kid that needed to get his teeth busted? I was legit rooting for her. And she was trying really hard to be diplomatic with the guy lol.

Well he was never forceful. He's just in an awkward position. And he really is in a situation unlike anything we've seen before.

At least the show knows Mako is dumb.

Asami has gotten an Airship. And a girlfriend it seems.

But Korra was the only one with any chance of fixing it at the time, or at least was the only one trying to fix it instead of saying "Tree's bad"

I know but she wad doing so well up until then. Just seems dumb to me.

Well he did kind of demand a bunch of people to go do airbending just because. Could've handled that way better despite the awkwardness.

Well that's a plus.

That's all the more reason why Asami needs an utility belt: so she can be batman. She even has a Gordon.

Ghazan is pretty awesome.

So apparently they introduced Arabs to the Avatar universe. Zaheer, Ghazan.

Yeah, I thought that was weird.

I wonder if they're from outside of the three elemental kingdoms. There have been hints before from the creators that the three kingdoms+air nomads weren't the sum of the world.

Did anyone else get an "old Azula or Azula's bastard offspring" vibe from the mystery last villain? Her mouth was very similar to Azula's and she's apparently a prodigy bender like combustion man. She must have some relation to an important cast member from the last show, otherwise they wouldn't have been so coy about showing her.

Thought the same thing. Probably her granddaughter. I'd love to see Azula herself. Even as an old lady. Even better a flashback.

1) Glad the show's finally out of Republic City. Looking back, that was not the greatest of settings. Ba Sing Se might be more interesting. Wonder how things have changed, if at all.

2) So I'm guessing Ghazan is a 'unique' Earth Bender, able to control temperature of the earth? Makes sense IMO, given that Water benders can create Ice & Steam.
But it's weird, coz Lava Bending was once displayed through the Fire Avatar back in TLA.
Zaheer is badass.

3) Kai (sp?) reminds me of Aang.

4) Zuko. Nuff said.

Yeah, Book 3 is actually off to a good start.

Ghazan does indeed seem to be a unique Earthbender like Combustion Man and Zaheer's girlfriend are unique Firebenders able to blow shit up with their brains. Or how Yakon could naturally Bloodbend.

And Roku has shown Lava bending, but that was manipulating actual lava. Ghazan seems to heat and compress rocks and make them into molten magma instead of just yanking Lava out of the ground.

I like how everyone is either talking about Combustion chick or Ghazan. Also since Zaheer did so well with airbending, I think it would be cool if he was the one to introduce a possible sub element of it...well that's just me.

They are being set up as rather powerful. I was reminded of Tai Lung in Kung Fu Panda. I just hope they don't get chumped out.

Yeah. And like I said, in TLA, it was implied that bending Lava was tied to Firebending.

Zaheer seems pretty bawss. As a non-bender, I wonder how he was so dangerous that he needed to be imprisoned like the others in his group.
2 weeks with Airbending, and he completely schools those White Lotus mooks.

Zuko said that alone, any of the Four (Earth, Fire, Water, Chi-Blocking?) could take down any bender. But now that Zaheer was an Airbender, shit just got real.

And yeah, Lavabending like Lightning is supposed to be a sub-set of Firebending, but bending lava is different from heating up a rock to the point it becomes molten by manipulating the rock. Enough of a difference that Ghazan is clearly an Earthbender.

Yeah, Chi-blocking would make sense. He certainly has the agility that chi-blockers require to avoid attacks, which he got from studying Airbending. As a proper Airbender now, his agility should now get increased.

Yeah, I know. His prison setup makes it clear that he's an Earthbender. Looking at it more closely, I realized that not all of the rocks are actually liquified.

______________

Let the memes begin.

Yeah, he turns part of it into magma, and the rest of the rock is there in the center, letting him continue to manipulate it I'm guessing.

It'd be crazy if Zaheer was related to Ty Lee somehow.

Due to Zahir (sp?) being so adept at bending, my initial thought was that he and the other three villains were people that Aang took bending from; that's clearly not the case. Whatever their story, I'm already interested. All four seem badass.

Zuko's appearance would have been better if it weren't revealed in the trailer. meh.

I don't give a shit about Bolin and Mako's poor, poor family. The amount of time dedicated to that annoyed me. i just don't care, especially when we were introduced to other great (and relevant) characters.

good start to the season.

What bothers me about Zaheer is that he already knows how to bend air like an expert.

I hope they explain that at some point, like if he once read an air bending scroll years back and used the bending techniques as regular martial arts.

I don't buy that someone would be able to instinctively airbend like a master within a day of receiving his powers if he hadn't any prior understanding of it. Especially considering that the nature of airbending means that it doesn't come naturally to villainous/aggressive people.

I'm glad we saw Mako and Bolin's family. They never made any qualms about them being orphans and only having each other since they were kids, so to see them have a support structure like Team Avatar, but their actual legit family is nice.

And Zaheer seems to have extensively studied the Air Nation, and Zuko said that he could take on any Bender before he got his powers. So it makes sense that if he suddenly got Airbending and had about 2 weeks to practice, he could become sufficiently skilled. He did quote an Air Nomad from over 2,000 years ago.

Literally his first scene had him quoting some obscure Airbending texts. It seems fairly obvious that he has a good deal of prior knowledge about the Airbenders.

Yeah. Maybe we'll get a fight where benders can give an Avatar in the Avatar State, a proper fight.

Lol, weren't people saying the same thing about Amon?

Yeah Book 3 is shaping up to be better than the other two though it's not that hard. They finally NAILED the antagonists. Amon was alright but his revelation really ruined his character. Unalaq was a joke from the start as he's a legit carbon copy of Tarlokk. The anti-team Avatar looks beastly.
