Wah? You kidding. People hate up and down all over movies like no ones business, these days. It's like...we are turning into a society of "grumpy old men" who can't be satieted by any films.

Especially when it comes to how the military would respond to an alien invasion huh? 😎

That wasn't a dig at you, but that attitude is one that I see more and more, even in myself. I think standards for what is considered a good movie is a lot different from what it used to be.

Oh, I know it wasn't directed at me: I'm not THAT pretentious. 😄

And, yeah, I agree.

If you go back and watch the acting in Star Wars, episodes 4, 5, and 6...the acting is just TERRIBLE. Look at the acting in episodes 1, 2, and 3 and it is loads better than the original Star Wars...but, yet...you get haters saying the exact opposite. Not only is that just weird, it goes to show how "standards" are just becoming almost unreasonable.

Exactly. Contrast how accurately the military was portrayed (contemporarily) in B:LA with Platoon and you'll see why I liked Platoon more. 😄

Hayden Christiansen would beg to differ.

Also Natalie Portman, Samuel L. Jackson and pretty much everyone else not Liam Neeson.

And even he wasn't that great.

Yeah, that's just not gonna fly, at all: Hayden performed better than everyone from the OT except Harrison Ford, Alec Guinness, and Ian McDiarmid.

You can list one semi-decent actor (he's decent, but he's not good) from the PT and I can list just about everyone from the OT as fail.

Which further proves my point of people being much harsher on things, these days.

Sure, they weren't oscar performances, but they were superior to just about every single actor from the OT.

It's like you two refuse to see how horrible the acting really was in the OT. Seriously, go back and watch some of the acting: it's worse, at some points, than a highschool play. I could not believe how horrible it was. (I just watched some of ANH, recently...)

I think the credulity of all the acting was made more difficult with literally nothing but blue screen & makeshift props around them.

Plus the fact that Lucas made the plot up as he went along made it difficult for the actors to grasp their characters.

Seems the critics don't like the movie and lots of talk about it looking like a video game.

Kind of like Scott Pilgram vs. The World...except the opposite. 😄

I was actually shocked at how well received SPvstW was. I assume sucker-punch will appeal to a very large portion of the fans of SPcstW. Am I wrong? (Not a rhetorical question: I'm open for a "correction."😉

I'm pretty much gonna have to disagree with everything you just said. Frank Oz as Yoda in Empire is more compelling than any of the acting in the prequels, and he's a ****ing puppet... made of rubber and yet he's more human and convincing than Hayden Christiansen.

I don't want to derail the topic too much, but let's just say there's no way in hell you're going to convince me that the absolute shit-acting on display in the prequels is better than stuff we see in the originals. I'm not even claiming the acting in the originals is amazing or anything, I'm just saying the prequels are THAT much worse. Worse writing (which makes for worse acting) and worse directing (which also makes for worse acting). And, of course, just good old-fashioned bad acting.

gonna see this tonight.

just saw it. is this a precursor to what zach snyder will do to superman?

i shall wait

Or that there's a massive amount of shit-films being thrown at us.

Is Armond White getting paid for this dribble or is it just his first-year psychology course coming through?

So his argument is that it's sexist . . . because the women aren't feminine enough?

When someone's argument is made with a "puppet", the credibility of their argument and the direction of the conversation is questionable.

And, there's no way in hell I would try and convince your of anything: if you hate on the PT and love on the OT, there's absolutely nothing I could do to convince you of anything.

It's this type of unreasonable, polarized, and hypocritical hate that I'm talking about. When ever I hear anyone say that acting was worse in the PT, that's an insta-facepalm.

Man, this movie sucked.
