Just finished watching it. There's pretty big spoilers down there, so I'd advise against reading it if you haven't watched the movie yet.
Spoiler:
I thought it was great. It improved drastically on Degeneration. The animation was awesome, and the story was pretty good. The action in it was pretty epic at times too. Leon taking on the Tyrants had some serious tension, even though you knew he would get out of it fine. Although, some of it was BS. The tyrant was oneshoting the rebels and lickers easily, yet Leon took the beating he did from it with no injuries. That thing whooped his ass harder than when he got smacked across the map in Degeneration by the g-virus monster, and he was full tilt sprint right after both of them. The main villain survives and is never heard from again. I'm not entirely sure what the deal is with her either. She's a pro enough fighter to take on people like Ada and Leon. She outright beat Ada in a fight, and Leon's fight looked like it would have gone south too. She spends the entire movie doing a bunch of evil shit and gets off scott free. All of Leon's allies, on the other hand, get killed or worse. It's kind of messed up.
Damnation really didn't change much for the overall RE story either.
In the end, Ada escapes with the Las Plagas parasite again. Turns out everything was going according to plan, and she got away with the prize. Her scenes were some of the most enjoyable to watch in the movie. Only thing is, she ended up getting an international warrant out for her arrest, because she was framed for the entire ordeal. Weirdly, she seems to enjoy the idea (and there's a rumor circulating that would completely explain that, but that's a massive spoiler for RE6 so I'll keep that to myself).
A lot of the movie felt like fan service too. Them adding in the lickers and tyrants felt like it was just for nostalgia purposes. I'm not entirely sure how the main villain pulled 4 tyrants out of her ass either. Apparently, those are easy to come by for some random Russian independent country. Lickers being controlled by the Plagas parasite (ala Saddler) didn't make much sense either, considering they're made from a completely different source (the virus). It would have made more sense if Buddy controlled the ganados instead (who curiously all just disappear, despite all the ruckus made by Leon and Tyrants at the end).
There is even a short scene towards the end with Leon wearing his outfit from RE4 (without the jacket and vest) which felt like it was just there for a 'hey, look at that!' moment, but that's small enough to be overlooked (plus, it was kind of cool seeing the modern rendition of it). Leon in this movie felt like a throwback to his RE4 self the entire time actually, which I liked. He even had a few corny one liners (like his 'Bingo?' line in the RE4 intro). He felt like the same old Leon, rather than the weird zombie Leon from Degeneration. He felt a bit cold in this though. There were times where he killed his friends as soon as they turned. There is even a moment where he purposefully shoots one of them in the spine, paralyzing him for life. His reasoning for both was fine, but he did it instantly, and never batted an eyelid. He felt like he had no remorse or care for anyone other than Ada (the scenes with them together were my favorite in the entire movie).
Another negative is that the entire thing felt like a RE6 ad. The montage of RE6 scenes during the ending credits didn't help either.
Still, it was immensely enjoyable to watch. And as an RE6 ad, it definitely succeeded in getting me even more hyped for RE6.

Conan O'Brian does game reviews?
And I'll just wait and see if Damnation becomes a rental on Zune as opposed to getting the full purchase on there that'll take up harddrive space.

WHERE THE **** IS BARRY BURTON
Heh, yeah, but Ndesu was still fun for me to fight on first playthrough or so, but eh...
Aside from that, Sherry has some better melee setups than I thought. Probably saying that though because I never saw too much of her gameplay compared to Jake's before playing. Should say something too that I liked using her stun rod in the demo more than I did in any part of RE5.
Leon's dual-wielding and stuff was pretty impressive, but Helena I found more epic all around with how fast and more brutal her melees are IMO and the fact she has the Hydra too.
And I think I'll stick with using Chris during his campaign. His melees and setups for them are an impressive improvement from his RE5 ones, with the regular straight punch being as powerful as it should be and all, and it being much easier to do the haymaker punch on enemies as a finisher. Piers is worth using solely for the sniper rifle, which isn't too much my thing compared to some of Chris's arsenal like the machine gun.
Aside from the Ndesu-like monster, my favorite part might've been when you were fighting the endless waves of zombies as Leon/Helena just before getting to the cop car, or when the unavoidable alarms went off. Classic.
