Didn't really have a problem with the camera (know what you mean though about the controls being a weird transition from Gears), but I might tinker around with it some by trying out the different options for it later. Same with the aiming. Maybe I'll find something that'll make the melee setups feel more natural to me like with RE5 or something, such as pressing X to melee instead of RT. Still need to get fully used to that and if possible, quick reloading on the game via the inventory so I won't always be going through the reload animation.

I hate how close up the camera is to the character- he blocks out too much of the screen imo.As well, after playing Gears for this long, the controls for this seem sloppy.
Those are my only two complaints though. I'm lovin it.
Still I am loving the demo. Finally feels like RE is catching up to modern day gameplay. I love being able to walk and shoot. Its just awesome. Funny how one feature can totally change the robotic dynamic for me.
So I've played through all the storylines on the demo.
The Leon storyline is my favorite, with the Chris storyline being my least favorite.
Honestly, from what I've experienced thus far, the game mechanics are just really terrible for the frantic gunplay that the game encourages you to go through in the Chris/Jake storylines. Again, I might just be spoiled by Gears of War, but the cover mechanics, shooting mechanics and the tightness of the controls all seem too clunky to affectionately fight gun-wielding enemies, at least for me. I'd say that at least half the difficulty I had in fighting gunmen was just getting them on my screen. Between your character and the HUD display, so much of your screen is obscured that a lot of times I was getting attacked by people who were right next to me but I couldn't see.
The controls seem okay for the Leon story because you seem to predominantly be fighting the classic villains, but I really hope they tighten everything up for the action storylines.

Agreed 100%.
Leon story was my favorite. Plays like what I always wanted RE to play as. The Chris action summer blockbuster scenario is a little too much for the controls.
No you're not just spoiled by Gears. Game doesn't play that well in the Chris madness from what I experienced. A few friends of mine told me the game felt weird, and I asked them why. They told me it felt weird. Then they told me they played through Chris's campaign. Kindda funny how the 2 campaigns can create mixed reactions...this is of course without both of us not playing all the campaigns. That was then. This is now. I hope the Chris campaign ain't as long as Leon's. >_>
Chris's campaign demo, while probably the hardest to get used to at first, is actually one of the most fun if you familiarize yourself with it enough through replaying it. The badass things you can do with Chris's knife for instance (which puts Leon's knife to shame when you'd think it would be the other way around), knowing the best spots to use Piers' sniper with the night vision, knowing where to get the shotgun and stuff when backtracking, and other things. Just learning you could change Piers' machinegun to full auto with the Y button while aiming made me like using him a lot more too. Having more B.O.W.'s like the big one we fought will only make that campaign more fun as well. Was also enjoyable sliding while immediately shooting with back first against the ground when sliding under those shielded guys and attacking them from below. lol (remind me when Gears had that) Plenty of different tactics you can do in Chris's campaign when you're not playing it like a total newbie. 😛
And you know you can change/adjust your HUD and camera displays in the options menus right? 😬 Never really had a problem with getting the gunmen in my sight on the screen because of that.
Anyhow, his, Leon's, and Jake's campaigns are all at least 5 chapters long according to the achievements, so yeah.
Aside from that, anyone noticed Jake and Sherry's machineguns could be switched to a grenade launcher? Thought that was pretty cool. Or that you could do a charge attack with Sherry's stun rod that does triple the normal effect, and being able to do a charge with Jake into a Wesker-like dash that leads to a 5 hit combo or so depending on how many enemies are close to you? Better to do the latter tactic against guys with melee weapons instead of ones with guns of course. Even those mutated lizard-like things in Jake's campaign aren't exempt to his and Sherry's beatdown combos which I love. If you know what you're doing you could go through the whole campaign without using any guns and just hand-to hand/stun rod, with the exception of boss battles maybe. If only there had been a DLC mini-campaign or something like that with Wesker in RE5 instead of that crappy versus mode.

I could never find where I can change the sensitivity of my aiming. =\

And it's just a demo, so hopefully the actual game will have more options with the controls, camera/HUD display maybe, and sensitivity and such. Hoping there's a control scheme where it's X to melee while still using LT to aim and RT to shoot. Don't mind X being the button to reload, but eh...

BTW Gears needs no sliding on the ground like a moron mechanic 131
Originally posted by Ridley_PrimeI'll give that a try.Did you try the aiming speed? I always have it at the highest (10) so I'll always be aiming then shooting as fast as possible once I get the feel for it.

One can only hope more options are available. They never hurt. I have no problem with melee being the RT trigger. Feels more intuitive to me, but then again I'm used to Halo's Bumper Jumper controller scheme.

And although you have the option to turn on the laser sight for aiming like in RE4 and 5 along with different colors for the laser which I kinda like, the laser itself doesn't seem to be as bright or help me with aiming as much as it did in RE4 and 5, if that makes sense. Things like that they could've polished up more.

Same here. Well that and I'm more used to X being the button to melee as far as Resident Evil, but if I have to I'll deal with RT being the melee button. And although you have the option to turn on the laser sight for aiming like in RE4 and 5 along with different colors for the laser which I kinda like, the laser itself doesn't seem to be as bright or help me with aiming as much as it did in RE4 and 5, if that makes sense. Moving while shooting? RE6 has that too needless to say. Come to think of it, killing one of the douchebags online while sliding under them with the gnasher or something would've been quite satisfying...
Being able to roll/move in different directions while back's against the ground like in RE6 also would've made for some tactical kills in Gears if done right. Basically the same concept as the whole wall bouncing mechanic the series has except it involves the ground. As for slide-killing just think that would've been one of the most stylish ways to take out an unsuspecting camper or something. lol Sure there's the meat-shield, but only so much you can do with that. And almost nothing they could've done would've been more broken/noob-friendly than Gears 3's sawed-off at the end of the day, anyway.
Back to RE6, I hope the actual game has a less confusing way of organizing or looking at the inventory, making things like quick reloading with it (so you don't have to go through the whole reload animation every time) more feasible. I don't think I'll be able to make using the inventory a 2nd nature in the demo like I have with RE4 and 5, but everything else I've pretty much mastered. I believe I'll be ready to go through veteran difficulty on the whole game first playthrough, then professional.
lol. Aside from rule of cool, baseball sliding around the map would be useless in Gears- people would just mow you down with the quickness in PvP.
Anyway, I've gone through each storyline several times now. There's a lot of gameplay mechanics in this this game that irritate me, but ultimately it's probably still a buy for me.
Played the demo and really enjoyed it, especially liked the h2h Wesker-esque aspect of Jake's game and beating the crud out of everything. I didn't realise quite how extensive his moveset was, I've played through with him a few times and learned something new each time. The back flip was a nice touch too.
I found it the most difficult with Chris to play through, the controls felt quite "clunky" at times, and like others have said I don't think the cover system is the best. My main gripe was I found that I often had "blindspots", mostly with Chris and occasionally with Jake. It probably will just take some getting used to but it did annoy me in the big firefights.
