'XDantevsVergilX'... Opinion should be void from the name alone.
The game will be a good. Its basically the same as DMC just with the team focusing on the story more, something that was DMC's main flaw. Sure its changing fan loved characters, but every installment has changed him. In the four games, anime and manga, not one keeps Dante's exactly the same. Not even the manga which is based exactly on DMC3.
Besides the combat, I cant see anything to complain about.

Idk. I am admittedly one of those people that hate his look but by no means is it what puts me off to it. I hate that he is half angel, Virgil looks a lot cooler imo but I don't like that he is "a good guy"(though I am sure he's just playing dante), and I can't get into it either. Even if it was a separate series from Devil May Cry I still couldn't get into it. It simply doesn't excite me and adventure games are my main genre. In all honesty with all of the changes it could be it's own separate franchise if it was given a few more tweaks imo.
I thought the Anime was ok and I never read the Manga. I have however read some of the comics based on DMC 1.
EDIT: I really don't like that they (dante & Virgil) don't appear to be Identical twins.
Picked up the HD collection! Now I have 1-4 on my PS3!
Did you guys know that most gamestops only ordered a few extra copies? They only typically ordered the amount they had on reserve. It's actually kind of rare to find where I live. No wal-mart, target, k-mart, or any other big chain around even has it. My friend found it at fye used for me.

Lol I'm almost positive this game won't touch the greatness that is dmc3. They_show_a new wonderbread version of Dante to north America and suddenly in their eyes the original franchise is eastern anime crap.

I've always seen the original franchise as eastern anime crap, even before this game was announced.
Eh, 6 mins and only gave 5 weak points.
1. Face doesnt match the character.
This part didn't even come across as a point :/
2. Comes across as mean spirited.
A guy that was physically and mentally tortured coming across as mean is strange because...?
He's only comparing to DMC4 Dante. This is the same as Dante in DMC1 and especially DMC3 and the manga.
3. Devil Trigger making him look like old Dante to suddenly appeal fans
His devil powers have always meant to do so, the whole hair getting whiter was said right away. That and the demon having white hair trope [eg Inuyasha]
4. Demons in the media.
Again not a point. And as shown in the manga, anime and DMC2, demons are sewn into the world and some corporations.
5. The team opposing them.
And again, anti-demon teams have appeared a DMC2, the anime and DMC4. Its like he forgot about what Nero or Lady were.
Just more upset people complaining~

I disagree. I don't see a resemblance to Dante from any of the games.
as for this so called "DT" I don't like that either. But in all honesty im betting that's his "Angel Trig" not his Devil Trig as he is not half human in this game. I believe he will have both a DT and an AT

Cocky, mean spirited, a do-what-I-want attitude. Thats DmC and DMC3.What wrong with the DT? The visuals of it have never been important before, actually his DT has only appeared for a grand total of 20 seconds in all of the 6 series.
He was never mean spirited in DMC3. Cocky yes but I don't ever remember him having this "bad attitude" he shows in DmC. I just finished playing the HD collection so im pretty fresh on the material. I agree he had the I do what I want attitude but Dante from DmC just comes across as a dick.
like I said I believe the white hair thing is during an "Angel Trig" thats just speculation right now but he is part angle instead of part human so it would be possible they are going to add an angel trig. Im over all more upset by the fact that he's half angle then anything else. Plus even if Im wrong and it is actually his "demon" form I'll still be upset because regardless of the way he looked throughout the games they all had one thing in common.....he didn't look the least bit human during his transformation.
What makes this Dante a dick more so than the others? The only thing more dickish is that he swears, which his manga self does and also says things like;
"Still comin' eh? I'll hand it to you-- you got guts. So, let's see 'em, shall we?"
"I'll feng shui this room with your diseased brains if you don't give me the girl."
"Shove that teapot up your rabbit hole"
DmC hasn't shown anything new in terms of his character. And note that this one has the added bonus of being tortured as a lad.
White hair is more a demon trait in fiction, and in verse with Sparda. He did look human for a few. Manga and anime all we saw was a slight altered appearance, even in DMC1 Dante only had a red aura and eyes when using his own* devil power(*back when he could only DT with items). Besides, just like how Dante only had minor changes and an aura before he unlocked his powers in 3, maybe this Dante will gain a stronger form later in the game.
I admit the only thing that bugs me is that he's no longer half human only because it coloured a core personality trait of his, but it should be find if they write in more traits to compensate. Curious to if he has an AT or something like it.

He comes across as much more of a punk kid with an attitude rather then he did before. Dante has always had an attitude but not like the current DmC. Then again I could be wrong. It could just be the way his face expression looks that makes me think this. Anyways sparda in human form looked like dante and his brother....thats all. Sparda had a Demon form all the same. Slightly modified through the games but he still transformed. White hair is a demon trait according to what exactly? Anime and Manga? This isn't either. This is an entirely westernized version of the original DMC. Like I said this is speculation on my part but it would make since to have white hair as an angle transformation because white/black is usually identified with good/evil. In DMC1 it wasn't just glowing red and red eyes he also flashed back and forth from that to demon. His form at that point wasn't full but he did have one.
As for his human side....well taking that away doesn't just take away some traits...to me it takes away his inner core and what he's entirely about. Through out the games you get fed lines like "Devils Never Cry". Even in the 4th game there is an entire scene where dante speaks of his human side as if it's what makes him who he is and as powerful as he is. Through out the series I came to the conclusion that his human side was "highlighted" in a way. In 3 he shows his favoritism of his mothers side. Heck he even tells vergil that he "has not father" or something very similar to that. Taking that away changes him as a character. Maybe he will want to be a human in this but to me it wont be the same.
Over all I do like some of the concepts of the game. Such as the angel/demon hybrid thing could be really cool. They could make you have a path of light or dark and upgrade abilities accordingly. Kind of like fable. I hate the idea in a DmC game though. for reasons mentioned. I also like how the main villain is in the media/politics.
Other then the angle thing I HATE the design of his weapons. Plus Im still not sold on the way they made him look. As I think its a terrible look but the main thing that bothers me about that is why they made him look the way they did. Ninja Theory had some great ideas here and I fear they wasted them on updating a game (in ways that I think goes against the series entirely) when they could have made a new game that could have been top notch.
Imagine how how in depth they could of went with creating this Angel/Demon hybrid character with no limits as apposed to using it to update an already existing character

If you've check the manga both Dante's are basically the same. Plus the torture thing is a liable reason for how he acts.
The white hair thing I think comes from the east, which DMC based it on like with Sparda's human form having it and passing it on to the twins. DmC being based on DMC means it comes from the same area, which is the reason they said his hair would get whiter as he gets more demonic later on. The flashing was only for the audiences benefit, like how Phantom saw him in the same image. Without a full transformation DMC1 Dante only had the aura and eyes, anime had him covered in a aura, manga had black sclera when using normal powers, and DMC had a white aura until he transformed. All humanish until tapping into their real power.
Well what he's really about it getting revenge on demons for killing Eva, but his human side is up there. Though the 'has no father' part would be more for him hating demons than anything else. What I found interesting was that he passionately hates Demons but doesn't consider himself human. Think he even labelled himself as a demon. He talks about humans in 4 and the anime like they're separate, like how humans are greedy and at times worse than demons but still have heart. Guilt for being a demon?
Not sure if there's gonna be a choice system from what Ive seen. Im cool with the weapons, besides the Eryx gauntlets and Rebellion. Loved the old skull one :/ My only problem with the new look is that he doesn't stand out, but I get that a modern/normal look is what they were going for.
Aha yes, was thinking that making a solo franchise would give them more to work with without getting crazed fans blindly hating it (youtube mostly). Then again, it may not have had that edge to make it as popular as it is now. Who knows.
Also, teaser/trailer. It was played just before Resident Evil: Retribution in the cinema, and in CGI at the quality of the Arkham City Hugo trailer, apparently. Its being discussed whether this is for the game or a trailer for the (rumoured?) DmC movie.
