I have to agree with angst over no returning ME2 characters. The entire point of ME2 was to build the ultimate squad to fight the Collectors and then.... they piss off right when the Reapers show up. We're back to our old teammates and some noobs. Its just kind of stupid.
I know why they did it though. Bioware's formula is about talking to your squad and learning their story. Theres no more story for the ME2 crowd (what with ME3 happening right after the DLC iirc) so they have to be replaced. Though if thats true I have no idea why Tali, Garrus and Liara are there. Their stories were all finished. I don't know what you'd talk about back on the ship. Romance I guess.
Though I really liked Miranda. I'm sad her, Legion and Mordin won't be coming back.

I loved Samara, I'm very upset she wont be a squadmate in 3, of all the chars in 3 she's who I would have wanted back the most.
I have a friend who absolutely loathes Samara. He thinks that Morinth is the more sane of the two.
He's funnah like that.

Tali and Garrus have been fan favorites and their familiarity won't piss people off since they're in the game. However the good BioWare doctors have said that they did not like having too many different stories meaning you don't really connect with the party as much. I find that to be complete BS but I wouldn't mind if they chose epic crew members.
But no we get some pretty meh ones outside of Garrus and Tali IMO and they've been the focus of companions.
Here we go.
"Twelve was a big number in Mass Effect 2 - almost too big", Hudson concedes. "We're focused on a smaller squad with deeper relationships and more interesting interplay in Mass Effect 3' he explains. "We're not going to have twelve again but we are going to do more with the characters on your squad including Liara, and Kaidan or Ashley. And we're bringing everyone back - every main character is in Mass Effect 3 somewhere"
That annoyed me after seeing how epic they can be when there's 12 companions.

Yeah man
Those two conversations with Garrus were so epic.

She was also a condescending ***** to effectively everyone, and had her head so far up the Illusive Man's ass it just made her more unlikeable. It is not about not being able to handle the female. It is about my willingness to punch the lights out of this particular one. Ashley was headstrong, assertive, tough, and all of those other words, but wasn't as irritating or bitchy, hence I actually liked her.
Miranda was fine. The problem with her was that she's reserved for the men who know how to handle a female. The Forever Alone crowd couldn't handle such a free spirited creature.
Shut your face, you cowardly black man. estahuh
That said, no returning ME2 characters is indeed nonsense. Samara, Mordin, Legion, really anyone not Miranda would be interesting.

Apparantly shes interesting enough to be a 'Character with Character.'
I was not disputing that she was a deconstruction of a Mary Sue, nor was I saying she was shallow.
I'm saying that at the end of the day she is still a *****. Her dismissal of what happened to Jack lends credence to that, and despite her character depth, she is so much less interesting than everyone sans Jacob, who gets off on memetic quality.
