you've never seen Q's corner game i take it
yes, for sean you have to earn your win cause he's the "joke" character in the game like dan was, but sean's deceptively powerful in the right hands.
i've streaked with sean in collage against good ken and chun-li players before, you just have to set his moves up or you're gonna get you face kicked in
Originally posted by psycho gundamI've seen all types of games. 🙂 I do find an advantage with less used characters, they are less predictable in a game where everyone chooses the usual. In all honesty I'm not a tier whore, I just like to have fun. That said it's still easier to win with the top guys.

the imbalance in third strikedaigo beasts with ryu, and he's not one of the usual suspects when people talk about imbalance in the game
every character can come off as top tier depending on the skill of the player, yun has nothing on sentinel in cvs2, that mug is broken
Also, Daigo used Ken in the bigger 3s tournaments he won.

No, it's still unbalanced. The big tournament results are a testament to that. A good player can pull off things with other characters, but he's still working harder.

Agreed. This is a very important thing that many people misunderstand about top tiers vs low tiers.
well yeah, you have to work harder but that's why you figure out how to fight properly with the lower tier guys, though chun-li players have to work hard also even though she's looked at as the the top dog
RX urien or hayao hugo can eat chun-li's more times than not, iplay to the characters strengths
hard work > minor tier differences

I agree. Even Chun-Li players work hard, but they get way more pay off for their efforts.

I'm sure Daigo could kill me with any character he wanted, but the tournament results speak for themselves. At the highest levels of play, certain characters just plain have better tools for victory.

True, but he kinda said that too. 😛
Yeah, the thing was, he said "very similar", it's not that similar. Mid tiers in MVC3 will NEVER beat Mags, BH, or Psylocke. Most of 3rd Strike's cast is actually viable. Even Sean can win 2 outta 8 against Yun or Chun. And in 2nd Impact, Sean was top tier. He actually sucks now cuz he got nerfed to hell.

No they don't.

Yeah, Sean and Q lack real gimmicks. You gotta put in some real work and master the hell outta the fundamentals. You're never gonna see Sean and Q win tournies but the oppuortunity is still there.
You don't base you're whole scope around tourney results cuz if you look at a game like SSFIV, you will be decieved.
