He limited himself before he killed Death, and afterwards he still had power above any abstract.

Yes, meaning we don't even know what he was capable of at full power but we do know it wasn't anywhere near Thanos who treated all the abstracts at once like gnats.

Before Morrison reinvented them in Final Crisis the New Gods were either portrayed as Gods in the vein of Zeus or Ares or as superpowered aliens. Kirby once hinted that they were the Gods of technology.

Simonson I believe expanded them with the notion that they were giants, an idea which Morrison spun further.

Morrison changed what the New Gods were and revealed that every time we had seen New Gods we had in fact been seeing approximations of their true selves, which were higher dimensional astral beings.

so darksied is an abstract? does that mean ares is still alive?

^I remember that. It's a pretty good retcon story wise but pisses all over battle boards. Basically every time we've seen the New Gods, their different incarnations than other showings. Hence why Orion is a strategist in one appearance, and a blood thirsty maniac in another. The New Gods that we've seen are basically minuscule reflections (Since their reflections, they constantly change which ties into the different incarnations thing) of their true form that exist on a significantly higher dimensional place. Heaven or some such.

The Darkseid we've seen that ranges from Herald level to Trans level is basically only a fraction as powerful as his true form. Course Darkseid still sucks so whateves.

threads with CA Superman are generally pointless. Closing.
