i watched it about a dozen times Pwned is right, when Harry casts the spell and it repels off of Snape the distance between them is less than 20 feet especially since seconds later you see Snape walk right up to Harry
Originally posted by BruceSkywalkerNo, I am talking about the distance as Bellatrix zaps Harry. It's considerably bigger.

Time for me to jump in . . .
One of the basic Force abilities that Jedi/Sith wield is known as the 'Force Shield' - upper tier characters like Vader were able to stop blaster bolts cold with their hand (see ESB) so who is to say that someone that wields as much power like Sidious couldn't defend himself from magic attacks coming from a wand?

Not that Sidious would need to block a spell with his hands, as Snape's been crushed and/or electrified from the start, but wasn't it Vader's robotic hand that stopped Han's blaster, not a Force ability.
Though he did use Precog, obviously.

Magical spells and plasma bolts are two different things. I could just as easily say that a protego shield blocks all force attacks.
You could say that but you'd be (unwittingly maybe) lying, as we know roughly how The Force works: its effects, its possibilities and (Whether we actually wanted to know or not) since the midichlorean thing, we have an idea about the mechanics of it.
You cannot say this for HP magic, thusly you cannot predict its effect against a force user countering with the power of the universe behind it.
So blindly asserting that protego would preemptively block all force effects would be as short sighted as it would be insane.

Can prove that the force is the substance of the universe in SW, can prove it has a grounding in reality and science.HP magic is in the universe.
SW "magic" IS the universe.SW wins.
SW is the universe in the SW universe. This fight is in London. Fail.
Magic has much more powerful screen feats, it's not even close.
And did I mention.......The Hall of Prophesies?
ET is in SW, ET went to California, California and London are on the same planet. It literally is the same universe.
Anyways, are you now saying that the fight couldn't occur in the first place because they are in different universes...?
The hall of prophecies is too vague to suit your ends here.
(Especially in massive combat which has far too much to be detailed in the prophecies.)
Look how open to misinterpretation it is.

You are correct.
Star Wars takes place in our universe, a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. 🙂
Hairy Potter takes place in an alternate unverse/multiverse where the set of physics is very much different from our own.

So everyone in London has Potter abilitahs..?I thought the Magic/mudblood distinction was blood related...!?
What you are saying is unrelated to what I just said. 🙂
However, to answer your question, not everyone born of two magical parents, will be magical. Some muggle (non-magical humans) parents will have magical children (Hermione, for example.)
However, generally, magical parents have magical children. It's not necessarily a genetic thing...it's more of a "etheral/magic" thing on who gets magic and who doesn't.
One thing is clear, however: one is not born with more magical ability than another. It more or less has to do with the person's brain. The more intelligent the person, the more powerful the wizard.
