Ok, I was just wondering how the fight was a definitive showing for skill when other factors were at play.I think KMC gives the Wolverine vs Brick thing a bit much credit. It used to be the opposite way when I joined. I don't mind him getting some wins, but this is a strong tough guy that can fight and isn't slow. He also has weapons. Even if Wolverine is more skilled and faster. Ares has the experience to negate the difference in skill and the speed to keep up.
Plus he's many, many times stronger. Which is why I said 7/10. Was funny watching them go back and forth though.
Exactly, Ares isn't exactly a brick, he brings speed and skill to the table. As well as his own formidable weapon.
It was actually pretty interesting how invested both of them were, for whatever reason threads involving Wolverine or Wolverine related characters have a history of degenerating after a while.

You've been getting into trouble lately Mr. David. Several warnings and fights. You're reminding me of this other crazy poster back in the day... 🤣
lol I know. I'm a forum problem child as of late... I try not to be but there's definitely those that evoke more reactions out of me than others...
Though I thought the last exchange you and I had was pretty civil considering.... considering what you said at the end of it.... 😘
you bastard lol.

I could see you were baited alot in this thread man, you have some very valid discussion points. Wolverine is a solid marvel character, he always has been.I already stated my opinion but you have stated a strong case.
Thank you very much. 🙂
Yeah, to ODG's credit he does that to me pretty frequently. It's impressive to a degree to be honest.
I can definitely understand people going for Ares in this fight, he's not a one demensional brick though I don't think that his speed or skill are reasons that would give him a majority... the fact that he can be shot in the brain and get up a few moments later, or tank being lit on fire, or recover from having his throat slit in a couple of moments is in my mind what's most threatening about him in this particular thread, if Wolverine were to assert an advantage he would have to press it hard in order to win.... Ares has the ability to tank a lot of shots from Wolverine that most bricks can't or won't and in that he can compound on his advantages of strength in a fight. He's obviously skilled but it doesn't hold a candle to Wolverine's feats/status/level/typical representation in skill. So I really don't think it's as a deciding factor as most tend to.
but... the same could be said about Wolverine in regards to Ares in terms of his HF and damage soak... Wolverine should be able to tank more shots from Ares than the other way around.
Wolverine should be more skilled than the other way around. Faster than the other way around, have better reflexes than the other way around....
I don't see what Ares brings to this fight that's a strict advantage other than his brute strength while Wolverine has several....
So I still contend that Wolverine wins but I respect people for having an opposing opinion on the matter. It's not as though they don't have reason for it.
Though I'll be honest this thread among other things has really made me want to see these two duel in a comic.

In comic sense Wolverine shouldn't be more skilled actually, he could be but really its ambiguous at best Wolverine has tons of showings which makes discussions rather ehh because ppl write him all ways and he has so many meh feats to fall on.
I wouldn't say it's ambiguous really. He has a lot more feats of skill and his feats of skill are more impressive.
Ares doesn't really showboat a lot skill in his fights.
But it's true, Wolverine's written differently all the time and a lot of writers have a hard time pegging him as something other than a wild animal man at times which make some of his fight feats look cruddy ala the classic up in the air hang time lunging attack...

Right he has a TONS and TONS of showings vs Ares with a very limited amount.
Ares should win based off total showings.
