Are atheists afraid of judgement?

Started by King Kandy44 pages

I don't celebrate Christmas, it really has no meaning to me, my immediate family is the only ones who really matter to me, and my friends don't care about the holiday either... I celebrate thanksgiving because we do it communally with all people on our street, but if the only purpose was family, I probably wouldn't celebrate it either.

I love it when you post the last post of an off topic conversation, and your post ends up on the next page. People see it and think, "What in the hell is he talking about?" 😆

b/c we all know Santa Claus and God are the same person.

Plus Ded Moroz.

how come there are no threads about muslims in the religion forum ?

There's quite a few actually, they just haven't been posted in for a while.

No sweet cheeks, everyone thinks I am. Or, "Can't you even handle a joke"? - what ever it was you said to me in the other thread.

OK, your are against drinking. You are also against setting aside one day. In printable I agree with you (but not the drinking part. hee hee) However, that is still not a good reason to only see the negative about the holidays.

Who gives a shit? If he can't enojy a holiday, let him be miserable.

Personally, I like the lights and the gifts and the time with my family. I don't decorate a city block, go into debt or suffer the fools in my family, but I have a tree up, I invite those in my family that don't make me miserable, and I get them something special. I don't do it for the baby Jesus or because I think Coca Cola needs my money, I do it because everyone is off work at the same time and we can have those few days together. Some people would call that a war on xmas, others would call it being brainwashed by corporations into becoming materialistic consumers. It's just a fun time of the year I use to appreciate my family and friends, and get a few Star Wars figures or designer clothes as gifts.

It did make me laugh. And a sock wouldn't have 144 posts.

But, see, that's the benefit about my perspective on xmas; what others think about it means so much less to me than what I think about it, that I get to feel sorry for anyone who can't make the best out of the opportunity it presents.

I was reading the posts about celebrating christmas and I was thinking that it's cool how people do take advantage of a posotive opportunity even if they don't agree with the whole idea behind it. I was told like most that the 25 was the official birthday....I'm grown now and realize that that's probably not likely and that the origins of the celebration weren't exactly as holy as most people are taught. Regardless of what I know now I still celebrate in the spirit I had when I was a child, enjoying the holiday that Christmas is now as it represents the spirit of giving thought for others and showing them that you care. The knowledge that you are loved is probably the most positive gift you could ever receive.

Doesn't mean I'm not an atheist. I'm sure you ignore the fact that the 25th is a pagan holiday and there were no rabbits at the crucifixion. Does your church not have an annual easter egg hunt?

You don't expect people to agree with you 100% of the time. Sadly, you realize this so well that you come onto internet forums and attempt to point out to atheists how they aren't really athiests. YES, you will get a check for it. At least you believe you will, in this life or the next. You keep saying I'm getting emotional, like I'm a hysterical woman incapable of rational thinking. It's a nice tactic people like yourself tend to use when they're confronted with a more level-headed way of approaching your perspective. It's my lack of emotion that really bothers folks like yourself. In fact, the only emotion I see in anything either of us have said to one another is the dozens of emoticons you seem to use when you feel cornered. (Another tactic meant to illicit an emotional reaction.) Look, I've gotten emotional with people like yourself in the past. From arguing with people like you on forums to face to face confrontations in parking lots to watching people like Kirk Cameron actually tell the television audience he would provide them with a way to get around atheists intellect and convince them of the truth of Christ, you're old hat. Seeing through people like you is the easiest thing in the world.

You can see right through me huh? Pathetic. I really could care less what people call themselves as I've met people who practice christianity and call themselves by their denomination. People who are from Africa will sometimes say that they're not black. What's in a name? The fact that you've gotten emotional with people like me in the past suggests that you're not as level-headed as you think, and suggesting that I use smilies because I'm cornered means you won't hesitate to spout blatant ignorance. 😄 I use them cause they're there and they're funny. 💃 If it got an emotional reaction out of you then you are too sensitive. ( A quality that clouds perception) If you don't like them say so and I won't use them at all when responding to you. Atheist intellect? I was unaware that atheists have a special intellect that requires 'getting around'. Atheist's, from what I've gathered, don't believe in God. I wanted to know more about why. I've concluded that all faith is equal in the fact that it's personal to the individual even if it is faith in mankind. A persons actions are what really defines them. Even atheists can be hypocrites that make the world a worse place just like some of the followers of religions. I never heard Kirk Cameron's arrogant statement and I know humans well enough to know that he was wrong. A sure fire way to convert atheists to Christianity sounds as stupid as a sure fire way to turn Christians into atheists. Damn humans.....think they know everything.

I didn't think that.

I just thought it was funny. I remember JIA telling someone, who had complained about smilies, something very similar to what you just said. Funny how that happens sometimes.

The mister is black. All this talk of KFC will distract him.
