It had several purposes. First, it addressed missionaries, which he and I have discussed. Second, I've been waiting to use the KFC conquers Africa with friend chicken since I saw it and spent 5 minutes laughing at just the title. Third, he just keeps repeating his transparent agenda over and over, I guess assuming that when he says something it must be true and people believe it because that's how it works in his religion...and I thought the chicken thing might be a fun distraction. I mean, no one is listening to him, falling for his tactics or changing their minds because he asks questions as traps, so I thought maybe everyone would just enjoy a story about the black continent being conquered by fried chicken.

Not like he is going to pay any attention.

Funny thing about this post is that it makes me think about how folks who are cheating on their spouses constantly accuse their spouses of cheating. 😮💨

Ya, a thief always thinks that people are steeling from them, and lairs always think others are lying. So, you are saying someone who says that you are easy to understand, is easily understood? Hmmmm I don't think the two compare.

[B]I'm a christian who believes in the Bible and it's command not to judge others. I won't judge people's souls but I do wonder about their minds. I can't comprehend why people find the idea of a creator hard to believe when we have such order (apart from suffering caused by humans) in the universe from atoms to galaxies. Science can't be applied to God but faith is what I'm discussing. Believing in God means that you believe we have a greater purpose than just survival. If you believe that there is no God there is no higher purpose for anything.
Correct
Saying that there is no God suggests that there is no right and wrong except what we define as right and wrong, so it is a strong statement indeed. It suggests that we should not fear judgement.
Mostly the lack of evidence for a creating deity and the fact that many of us find it obvious that the origins of religion and God as a concept are man-made.
What prevents people from believing that were created with power and responsibility on purpose? Is it fear of being judged by the Creator? If that's not it I'd like to know what other possible reasons there are.

Not once did she/he consider that a missionary might be sincere in their beliefs ability to promote positive changes. Yet he/she accuses me of being on a mission to change peoples perceptions. I see what you mean. Ya, she has an agenda, in a way. It's more like she has a hate that blinds her to your point.

Hate is a strong emotion. I can't very well call you simple to dissect AND hate you.
Unless I'm cheating on you with Jesus, I don't see the relevance of your comparison.

I didn't say they do "NO GOOD". I said they had ulterior motives, just like you. There is this inherent paranoia in people of your perspective. It's just like in your cheaters example. If you came on here to gain insight, then you wouldn't argue with people when they provide answers to your 'innocent' questions. But, since you do, you're obvious intention is to convince them of just how wrong they are...or yourself how right you are. It's the exact same thing I've seen all over the internet, in person and on television. People with obtrusive religious beliefs have an insecurity about others having a different opinion. So,it's easy for you to tell me you don't have an agenda when you argue with others to justify your position. But, then we're getting back into the liars always lie, cheaters always cheat scenario. Again, you folks aren't hard to figure out. It's maddening to people the first few times they encounter people like you, so I understand why my lack of emotion might be confusing you. So, while you're furthering your agenda, questioning my gender, supposing I'll blow up, lose my cool, prove to you that you can piss me off because somewhere inside I really do agree with you, I get to calmly shake my head because you make it easier and easier to laugh you off. I'll keep providing you with an calm and rational observation of your behavior, and in return you can miss the point and try your baiting tactics. It'll be fun.

The easy answer why I've become an atheist:
All questions as to 'how' and 'when' can be answered merely with science. Even if god had created the universe, he must have forgotten to touch it from the very second it came to exist. Because we have found out nearly everything we need to know on how it evolved and also are able to calculate how it will evolve further.
The question 'why' does not find an answer, everyone has to answer it for him/herself. And if you want to think so, believe in god. Just don't try to make other people do 🙂

Why? What does it matter to you if another person teaches someone else about god? I can understand not wanting anyone to try an convince you, but why stop other people from believing in a god? I mean, as long as the exchange of information is equitable, why would you have a problem?
b/c ppl abuse others lack of education to further their agenda and beliefs.
not only distorting their own religion but the culture of others.

That is not just related to religion, but examples can be found in any endeavor that humans have strong emotions about. Politics would be an example.

Originally posted by skekUngMaybe you've been judged by others before but I have no intention of passing judgement on you. I believe that is wrong for anybody to do. The fact of the matter is that you are quite consistent in passing judgments on groups. Can't you see where that is a flawed practice? I can't represent all christians and you can't represent all atheists. Your beliefs about me perhaps should be directed at ME. I am not "You folks" and have been outside of what most people that call themselves christians believe. I think that atheists are mistaken but I'm actually quite interested in their reasoning. What I believe is not the be all end all and I am only capable of basing it on my own personal experiences. If I told people that I don't believe that fire hurts they might dismiss me but if had experienced putting my arm in flames and not being damaged then I would never change my stance. An open-minded person might not dismiss me but allow me to show them that my arm won't burn. After witnessing that an open-minded person might adjust what they believe. I have already adjusted what I believe as a result of reading the posts from those that did not dismiss me. My opinion is that YOU are as closed-minded as I have seen on the atheist side and share more in common with religious zealots who act as if they already know everything. Your kfc link was a good example of how ridiculous your reasoning appears as it had nothing to do with a religious group, yet you used it to represent missionaries. Who's trying to piss who off? Your gender really shouldn't matter, and it is an unknown to me. You are skekung. If your user name was Mr. big d#ck I would be calling you he. You're definitely doing the opposite of showcasing a lack of emotion, as you see leaving your gender open as a possible way to become pissed. You are already pissed off at "People like me" and that's glaringly obvious. You're locked in your pessimistic way of thinking and it's not constructive at all. Asking questions is the way to learn what you don't already know but I suppose that you have already learned everything that there is to know. It's atheist and christian know-it-alls that are the cause of hatred between the two. Both speak from a position of superiority over the other. Perhaps that's why you're so persistent with your accusations. Peaceful discussion between us with no accusations or insults might be outside of your capabilities. That's a shame but I've encountered it before trying to convince christians that non-christians aren't condemned to hell.

That would be nice, if there were no religious organizations that attempted to alter, influence and block the progression of other people's rights, while enojying their own freedoms to engage in the same kind of behavior. The very same question you ask of those with no religious beliefs could easily be asked of those who do entertain religious beliefs.
