Through a reality warp, he is distorting space making a room seem empty when its not. What is interesting, is that New Mutants 26 confirms X-Man has the capacity to warp reality. Before it was only hinted here, and there with a very minor showing.

Legion does go on to later just call Nate a "regular" Omega level. I think he was just giving the obligatory "over 9000" moment, like Beast did with Matthew Mallo

And yeah, Nate is coming off as superior right now. Although, the current writers also think global telepathy is the highest TP feat ever...
