Magneto and Prof X walk into a bar where Wolverine is sitting. Without even looking around, Wolverine growls: "Go f@ck yourselves."

Magneto and Prof X turn around and walk out of the bar again...

Cracked me up 😄

Considering that PG13 movies are generally only allowed to use that word once and stay PG13, this was a perfect use for it.

I thought it was twice. Any more than twice and the film is rated R.

Saw it and loved it. Although, I'll say I did enjoy Thor a bit more (I'm a huge Thor fan), but this was definitely the best X-film to date. Tremendous roll Marvel is on; here's hoping they knock it out of the park again with Cap. 🙂

I haven't like any of the X-men films other than 2, but this one was surprisingly good. Fassbender was awesome as Magneto and I didn't mind the changes they did with Magneto and Xavier's backgrounds, thought they worked very well. And the end scene on the beach captured the relationship between Charles and Erik perfectly. Something I thought the others movies completely failed to do. My only big complaint about this movie would have to be Beast. The actor was okay, he was no Kelsey Grammer but he was decent. But they just did stupid stuff with him, the running scene made him seem more like Quicksilver, and his costume looked absolutely awful.

Yeah, Beast could have been done better. They portrayed him as a noob and didn't let him show off his powers. The transformation scene and look was fine though.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it is that 2 times makes it rated R, and the one time it is used, it can't be to mean the act of having sex.

Beast looked like he belonged in the musical, Cats. His face was all wrong.

I loved it, even more that X2. I don't care if they went off course from the comics, all I care about is if they put out a good movie and I felt they did. Both the guys who played Xavier & Magneto did a wonderful job.

Only major weak point to me was January Jones as Emma Frost. Ugh, she was terrible. So wooden, so uncharismatic. I've only seen her in 2 films (Unknown & X-men: First Class) and she was terrible in both.

Eh, I didn't think she was that bad as Frost. Could've been worse, but yeah. The thing with her being hurt while in diamond form as she's magnetically tied to the side of a bed was kinda silly.

Definitely agree on the first part. 👆

I liked it a lot. I think it's the best since X2.

My only problem is the continuity issues with the first movie.

Spoiler:
Charles becomes paralyzed at the end, despite being seen standing at the end of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
And I assume the scene at the beginning of The Last Stand, where Professor X and Magneto meet Jean Grey as a little girl, is supposed to take place during the scene in First Class where they recruit all the mutants.

Not to mention some of the characters. Emma Frost is seen in First Class and Wolverine. Moira MacTaggert is seen in First Class and The Last Stand.

I don't care that the movies don't match the comics. I don't expect them to. I would just appreciate it if they got their own continuity in check.

I think Bryan Singer kinda ignored the events of The Last Stand and Wolverine Origins and dismissed them as part of his continuity (he was only involved in the first two movies before First Class, after all). At least that's what I read somewhere here.

As for the Wolverine cameo, lol. People in my theater were cheering when he first appeared even before he said "Go **** yourselves" to Charles and Erik. Good cameo indeed.

^ Though Dr. Hank McCoy was in human form in X2 (just a cameo in the background on TV), so that was off with Singer's continuity.

i liked it ✅

god i hate professor X in this though. he's not tolerant good guy. hes more of a pushover pansy 😬

i wouldve definitely hopped on magnetos side

I think its kind of obvious that continuity wasnt a main concern for this movie. The overall realistic tone seemed to be the main aspect the directors and writers wanted to keep in First Class. Was Bryan Singer invovled with first class? I know he didnt direct it. Did he help write it? That would be interesting to know.

With the exception of maybe Mystique (preferring her to take a human form and keep it that way), I don't see how Xavier wasn't a tolerant good guy. If it weren't for him too, most of the others (including Magneto) would not have been able to take control of their powers as well as they did. If standing up for what's right makes him a pushover pansy, then I'll gladly be one too.

Yeah, it did say that Singer was the writer (or one of the writers) in the ending credits. But aside from that, I'm glad the movie focused more on the realistic tone as you said, rather than the continuity...

Still didn't like that they had Cyclops's brother instead of Scott himself, but in this case, he wasn't one of those characters who would make or break the movie.

ok... professor gets shot in the back... no problem bro we cool 😉

saves the world & gets missiles shot @ him & his people... no problem bro. we cool 😉

sister abandons him after hes been shot... no problem bro we cool 😉

shaw a nazi that vaporizes all those military men & the black dude(notice he was the 1st & only hero to die BS)& attempts to ignite WW3... begs mag not to kill him 😐... no problem bro we cool just arrest him. fgt

Implying it's his fault that Magneto accidentally had him shot in the back and all that? They needed some sort of explanation as to why he started needing a wheelchair anyway (though I suppose how it happened in the comics would've been more preferable as far as that, but again as pointed out, continuity wasn't a main concern for this movie).

With how well that plastic prison worked in keeping Magneto confined for awhile in the first two films, I'm sure they could've had one specially for Shaw if he got arrested... Besides, Magneto didn't kill Shaw to "save" the world from a WW3 being ignited or anything. It was just out of personal vendetta, thus Charles was far more of a hero.

Implying it's his fault that Magneto accidentally had him shot in the back and all that?

where did i imply it was his fault?

With how well that plastic prison worked in keeping Magneto confined FOR AWHILE

letting shaw live had far more consequences than not due to his connections & power.

Besides, Magneto didn't kill Shaw to "save" the world from a WW3 being ignited or anything.
again reaching... where did i put mag killed shaw because he knew it was for the better good?

those were shaws goal & he appeared extremely focused but through his death he has no chance of accomplishing that goal.

WOOOOOOOOOOW...

Spoiler:
only black woman is a stripper.
during shaws speak about slavery screen cuts & zooms in to darwin(the only black guy).
black stripper switches to bad guys side in almost an instant.
darwin gets beaten on his back to prove how durable he is(had hard hard ass skin).
despite having the power to survive darwin doesn't survive & is killed off.

don't you love hollywood

I noticed the same things. The Camera on Darwin was for effect on why it was stupid to not stand up.

The beating and standing up to it was to show defiance and was actually quite "pro-black". MLK Jr. Would have been proud of that moment.

There are far more white women that are strippers than black girls. The stereotype is black women are prostitutes, not strippers (seriously, google search "black prostitute" and "jokes".) You don't even know the racial stereotypes. For shame.

Does that make you feel better about the movie?
