X-Men: First Class

This move was lower ranked for me. It had its moments but for the most part the movie simply did not drag me into it either with the action or because some of the story elements just didn't work or were handled so badly to me.

The from the final fight on upward I was just kind hoping to get it done and over with and they seemed to drag it out a bit.

My favorite characters in the entire movie were Magneto, Xavier, and Shaw.

Movie was "eh alright" to me. I will probably enjoy it better a second time.

My main gripes with it, I guess, was that the plot was moving too fast, beyond the point of feasibility, and the fight scenes were all pretty boring. The mutants they used were also pretty boring for the most part.
A more personal gripe, for me anyway, was that Emma in her diamond form was pretty laem. Charles and Eric literally just manhandled her to the floor, lol. Where was that knife catching ninja kicking reflexes from earlier?

I'm looking forward to the sequel though.

Was my second favorite comic movie.

I quite liked Azazel for the new ones that got introduced imo.

I know I know it's a prequel...but my main gripe is did all 4 Xmen movies have to focus around Magneto???

It gets tedious knowing what to expect when Magneto is battling any or all the Xmen...

I liked it a lot. I think it's the best since X2.

My only problem is the continuity issues with the first movie.

Spoiler:
Charles becomes paralyzed at the end, despite being seen standing at the end of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
And I assume the scene at the beginning of The Last Stand, where Professor X and Magneto meet Jean Grey as a little girl, is supposed to take place during the scene in First Class where they recruit all the mutants.

Not to mention some of the characters. Emma Frost is seen in First Class and Wolverine. Moira MacTaggert is seen in First Class and The Last Stand.

I don't care that the movies don't match the comics. I don't expect them to. I would just appreciate it if they got their own continuity in check.

Thats like with the Superman movies and Lex Luthor.

I really enjoyed First Class, it is easily one of the top three comic movies to date, and it it wasn't for some cheesy groan inducing scenes (mostly curtsy of Mystique) it would be an easy number 1 by a far margin. If someone decided to cut about 20 minutes of fat from the theatrical release, we would be left with a near perfect film. The Magnetic / Xaiver arc is easily the most fleshed out and intriguing character work done in any comic book film to date. Riveting. There are some pretty bad low points in the movie, but in many sections it reaches heights that few comic book films would even dream off. Fantastic movie. Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy owned the screen every second they were on, truly amazing performances.

My review of the film can be found on my blog page, about 3/4 of the way down.

Saw this for a second time this weekend. This film is awesome. Definitely one of the stronger Marvel efforts.

I loved the movie. Favorite summer movie so far (Ahead of Thor, Bridesmaids, and Super 8).

Some of the continuity was off, but I can get past that since I originally went in thinking of it as a reboot rather than a prequel (even though it was obviously a prequel right from the very first scene). One continuity thing that I didn't see posted when I scanned above posts briefly is Beast was shown in human form during either the first film or X2 (I'm 80% sure it was X2). He was in the background being interviewed on TV or something and it said at the bottom "Dr Hank McCoy".

Yeah this is easily the best Xmen film and definitely in running for top five best comic flicks.

Favourite scene of the new X-Men movie:

Spoiler:
Magneto and Prof X walk into a bar where Wolverine is sitting. Without even looking around, Wolverine growls: "Go f@ck yourselves."

Magneto and Prof X turn around and walk out of the bar again...

Cracked me up 😄

That's how you pull off a cameo. I hate him in these films. He is way over-exploited but that scene was done well.
