It was essentially a worse version of Dark City stretched into three films?
I enjoyed Scream 4, my only problem is that the threater was packed with noisy teenagers. I'd recommend seeing it on a school night or weekday matinee.

Those movies are fantastic movies. That you can see that merely proves that you have eyes. However, that you would put the latter two Matrixes over the original, as well as the PT over the OT, despite this opinion being factually wrong shows your poor taste. Also, I've seen numerous other examples of shitty taste from you, of which I don't care to recall.
See, an opinion on what movies you like cannot be factually wrong, ever. Based on your comment, I can say that because you think the OT is better than the PT, you're opinion is factually wrong. I'd be just as right as you are.
And the "shitty" things you're talking about are probably films like Transformers, Avatar, les Miserables, Inglourious Basterds, etc. Good films that you probably don't like.
While pretend to be on a pedestal, I'll be over here enjoying films.
Pretty much agree with Lestov, except I didn't think the "New Rules" really amounted to anything. At best, Scream 4 is a retread of Scream 2 in regards to it's cleverness, which isn't a bad thing. In other words, Scream 1 is still the best and most clever, Scream 2 and Scream 4 are watchable and not quite as clever, and Scream 3 had a few good moments in between the bullshit. Far and away, Kirby was the best character in this movie. I aaw it two days ago. Pretty good fun, but nothing spectacular. It felt more like visiting old friends after a long time spent abroad.

If you like the trilogy, see it, it's a must see.Ignore opinions from people who haven't seen the other films...
Spoiler:
You can cut out your pretend "superior opinion" position. I've seen all four films.Has my opinion changed? Not really. 😬
Edit - You guys can ignore the opinions of the people that think seeing the first 3 films some how magically improves the 4th film's viewing experience.
I enjoyed it when I saw it but after some time thinking about it I feel it really missed the mark. The fact is since the last Scream movie the "rules of horror" have changed... but outside of a few non sequiturs and one liners, Scream 4 didn't really reference any the new bread of horror that has emerged in the last decade. In stead of dealing with the genre conventions of the "torture porn" films of the last decade, they decided to focus on the in movie film franchise Slasher... and that is just more played out Slasher genre conventions that was taken as far as it could go in the first Scream. It's almost self parody at this point. With the current state of Horror there was an opportunity to make a movie as groundbreaking as the first Scream was at the time... but that isn't what we got. Bete
Still an enjoyable pop corn film. Better than Scream 3, on par with Scream 2, not a must a see by any stretch of the imagination.

I believe in my review, that's exactly what I termed it: Self-parody. And, yeah, we are agree on this film quite a bit. I would say that it's a must see for any Scream franchise fans and slasher horror fans, but not a must see for anyone, really.
I really didn't like this movie. I felt it had the most predictable killers of the entire series and the movie tried too hard to be funny. Some parts were semi-humorous (the part that stands out the most is the intro), but others were excruciatingly unfunny (Anthony Anderson's last line was the worst) and brought the movie down. I also could have done without the final scene in the movie. In fact, if you cut that scene out, I think the ending would have been significantly better.
