I agree. In fact, I hate the ''eye for an eye'' justice - because that isn't justice, it's revenge.

Maybe I wasn't clear in my post, but I was replying to Quiero Mota's idea that ''if terrorists are beasts we should be beasts too''.
To me, that attitude is counter-productive and dangerous.

Revenge is usually a big error. It leads to people getting put in positions with less and less options besides striking back.

I read somewhere that in Albania they still have blood feuds from I don't remember how many years ago.

That means someone from your family kills someone from my family - by protocol of ''eye for an eye'' you must give up someone from your family to be killed. Years later, someone from your family may kill someone from my family as a revenge...and so on.

It's just crazy, I know some Albanians believe it or not they are a passionate people and very volatile.

Revenge is usually not an answer.

The ones I found were all from the militaries themselves

Apparently there is video of the operation. Obama, Joe Biden and the national security team watched it live... but I doubt we will ever see it.

In theory after you take an "eye" for the original lost "eye," the scale has been balanced and that is that. Any further action would be the start of a completely new and separate incident... in theory.

I understand.

It is not only counter-productive, but it essentially becoming what you profess to hate. I think this is your true problem with the United States; it is a nation of blow hards who profess to hate the very thing it seems to put so much effort into becoming. There is a real insincerity to the American mindset that does a disservice to the goals and expectations of our founders.

As for putting bin Laden's head on a steak, considering all the supposition that yesterday's action would result in the destruction of American assets -lives or property- the decision to show respect for the body was an intelligent and throughly-regarded one. There are certain religious and spiritual demands made of a dead muslim, and had we not shown deference to those traditions, those we feared might retaliate would have had a very public reason to do so. I'm fairly certain that in the coming days and weeks, perhaps months, the pictures and/or video of his body will end up being made public -but now is not the time. The way this situation went down there will be some respect for it in the minds of those who have chosen to equate their faith with extremist behavior and ideaology; to rub their faces in it by actually burying him opposite mecca with a bottle of Jack and an arm handcuffed to a dead hooker will only undermine the very limited respect such fanatics might have for the situation. This is a very male-centric mindset and society, approaching it intelligently and reaslistcally is the best path.

I'd imagine it is from the helmet cams the soldiers wear into the mission, rather than some spec-op's phone cam

I´m not sure it is right when one country, without permission, sends troops into another country to assasinate someone. Ok the spooks and "james bonds" of this world have been doing it for years, even the special forces have been "Bumping" people off and it has never been reported. So just because it happens to be Osama it is used as a propaganda spin.

What I also find odd. According to the whats on the news, it took over 50 US special forces 40 minutes to kill four people. An extremely ill Osama, his son, some woman who was first thought to have been one of his wifes, and a courier.

What is also worrying f the events are as they are reported, is that it is blatantly obvious that Pakistan is on one hand saying it is helping against the terrorists and the other helping the terrorists, WTF?

Obviously. Imagine some special opts guy running around with his I-Phone taking video while Obama watches on the other end with his phone. lol

Finally, we've won, the war is over!

What have we won?

No one knows if he's ACTUALLY dead. Think about it.

>They cant decide what day it actually happened.
>They threw his body in the ocean to be in accordance with THEIR laws.
>They took a DNA test that gave instant results, though it typically take 3-4 days and for us normal people, 6 WEEKS to get a conformation.

I know, it's all speculation. But it's all too convenient. It's smart though. Obama is a horrid president, that's a given. But he is smart. What better way to lead off your re-election campaign than to kill the man responsible for 9/11.

And if you think the war is over, you're sadly mistaken. This is just the excuse that they needed to stay over there longer. Now they will have to "keep the peace". The troops are never coming home. This war is nowhere near over.

Excellent points. It all seems very fishy imo.

And if the Arab (and persian) uprisings come together as one united Islamic power, then there will be no reason to fear AL Qiada any more.

it is likely that the support if from higher ups in the intelligence and military. as political policy, Pakistan is against Al Qaeda.

no, it was simply a reply earlier to everyone who was saying "oh, there should be cell phone pics of the body, its fake!", as if real spec op units pull out their blackberries as soon as the target is down.

What you're basically saying is that any step away from dictatorship these people take can and will ONLY be a step towards Islamic fundamentalism and theocracy as outlined by a jihad mindset. It borders on racism, even if you don't intend it to be racist.
