And now I've finished the singleplayer.
The main plot itself wasn't quite as strong as AC2 or Brotherhood, but still, it was more than enjoyable, and I loved the sideplot with Ezio and Sofia (she is awesome, damnit). The last mission of sequence 8 was just about the coolest damn thing ever. And the Altair bits were certainly interesting.
I didn't do any of the Desmond sequences yet; I unlocked them, but basically ignored them. I'll probably go back now and do those, just to get the full story, as well as finishing my collecting of everything ever.
Shao Jun would be interesting, especially seeing things from the perspective of a female Assassin, but it's highly unlikely that Desmond has Chinese ancestry.
So not in a main game.
They've also wanted to push for a closer time period. Revolutionary France or Victorian England seem like good bets. "Miles" is a Norman French surname that was adopted into English, so one could make a good case for either.
Bought this game a few days back.
It took awhile for me to get into it. Probably because there are so many different gameplay options, controls that I had relearn since Brotherhood.
It's fun. I like leveling up my Assassins for some reason, finding treasure and such. One thing I don't really like is Defend Den mini-game. It's not that it's a bare bones turret defense game but it's just not done very well. It might be the controls.
^ Took me a while to get into it as well. I can understand why they mapped secondary weapons to what used to be the Head Button, but it still got annoying.
Otherwise, it's a well done game. The story isn't really much of anything until you factor in the Altair Segments & get to the climax of the plot, and even then, it isn't as good as the story was in AC:2. Still, the gameplay makes up for it.
Only things I did not like were Den Defense (simple difficulty & gameplay, but stupidly annoying once the siege weapons arrive), and the First Person segments with Desmond. Still, the former is optional & avoidable, while the latter gives development to Desmond.
That said, I also liked levelling up Assassins. I would have liked it if I could get all my recruited Assassins to lv15/Master, instead of just the 7 that go to the Dens.
Revelations also contains THE best chase sequence I've experienced in an AC game. That boat chase was awesome.
I just wish they hadn't removed Ezio's cape. That thing was cool.
Yeah, the story is kind of dormant until the last sequence. That's what really lowers Revelations in my opinion, in spite of the additions to gameplay.
That said, the chase sequences are the most exciting of the series. The final chase dethroned St. Peter's Basilica as my favorite chase.
The Desmond segments were underdeveloped, but I did appreciate learning about the guy at last.
Den Defense is so, so easily skippable. You don't even need to do it for the guild challenge - get all of your Assassins to Master level and you're given credit for it automatically. I only ever had a den attacked by Templars once and that's because I decided to go gallivanting around after a mission that you end with full notoriety instead of actually doing lowering it for half an hour.
The overall plot is more scarce and weaker than the other games, yeah, but I kind of really liked the personal storyline with Ezio and Sofia a lot. And yes, the chase sequences are amaaaazing. Between the boat escape one, and the very last one...so damn cool.
I'm glad the den defense is skippable. It would be pretty annoying if it wasn't.
The only good thing is that Den Defense gives pretty good XP to all your assassins.
One thing I'm confused on, when you gain control of a city and you upgrade it, does the money go to your bank? And how does the XP per day work out?

So how is the matchmaking for Revelations?
*Searching for a programmed session*
I remember the Brotherhood matchmaking seeming okay when the game was new and hot.

But recently, when I've wanted to sit down with the game and just play some multiplayer...
*Searching for a programmed session*
It just never happens, regardless of whether I specify what I want to play, or simply press Play Now.

And oh my god, how annoying isn't that mantra of hers?

Actually, I find that Revelations finds matches far better than Brotherhood did; Brotherhood's matchmaking was utterly broken for me and 90% of the time I could never get into a match.
The big downside is that in Revelations, for some unknown reason, if you try and find a match with a group that's less than four people, it will split you up.
