Furthemore, if what they did back then is consistent with how they performed after this imaginary "establishing powers" time period, then there's absolutely no reason to ignore history. Your use of the term, "context," is an utter misnomer. The only one trying to ignore context is you.
And I'm confident that if I were to take the effort to reread Wolverine's and Sabretooth's earliest appearances, your viewpoints would probably be debunked on their face. I get it. When trying to figure out what would happen in a real fight, a real fight where a weakened Iron Fist embarasses Wolverine counts less than a sparring session between the two where both guys are holding back.
