DCU gets remade - all books are #1s, Geoff Johns and Jim Lee on Justice League, more

Started by Prep-Man367 pages

Like I said over and over, it's not a reboot. A few writers have been saying this, so... I guess it's more of a relaunch. Cherry picking what they want to change and whatnot. It can work for some characters, like Hawkman, but the core stuff will be staying around the same.

They'll probably change Superman a lot, so we'll see. I love the idea of having books for Mr. Terrific, Resurrection Man, Stormwatch, JL Dark, New Guardians, so there is a bunch of books I am interested in.

THUNDER Agents will be coming back and will be written by Nick Spencer. Good news, but it will be called HUNDER Agents.

Action Comics and Justice League are set in the past, the Green Lantern, Batman and LSH books are all continuing without a reboot. DCU Presents, Green Arrow and Hawkman are picking up where Brightest Day left off. But for everything else, yes, it will be more of a reboot/restart. They are basically keeping the books going that were financially successful for them and restarting everything else.

Pretty much what most people have been claiming or guessing.

Virtually everything else besides the most successful titles are getting rebooted. So, yes, continuity will probably be a beach to sort out with the picking and choosing mentality DC has, to say nothing of how new readers, if they really get into DC and want to learn more, will have to figure out what the heck is going on.

First look at Firestorm.

Isn't Zealot WildCATS? Why should she be a member?

I thought Green Arrow was rebooted?

I don't know, but I can't wait to read his future stories. He sounds more interesting. James Bond/Robin Hood. With the best weapons on earth, etc...

she is, but just feel with grifter getting his own ongoing and dc putting midnighter in the new stormwatch series that zealot deserves a place in this new dcu..

😬

This sounds promising to the feat-hungry fanboy in me, but to the serious reader and fan of the character this is a mehtastic.

"I don't want to turn him into an anti-hero"

Well that's what he was originally, an anti-hero who never could quite play it straight due to a combination of poor choices and bad luck and always ended up on the wrong side of the law despite his principles.

Will he be badass again? Maybe. But will he be good as a character? Doesn't sound like Higgens is doing anything to correct the massive creeping derailment that has made me hate the character's recent stories and resent the company for letting it happen.

Just read this on Bleeding Cool that the overall count in the DCU/Vertigo could go as high as 80 comic books. Hope they got some more good comic's up their sleeves! 🙂

I thought originally Slade was "some guy who turned up, beat Batman, then walked off"?

Eh, the fact that he's focusing on Slade as a mercenary rather than "Leading to Society against the Titans, etc" is an improvement I'd say.

Nope. He was deeper than that. Hell in their first encounter where Slade beat Batman down they were only fighting because Slade had been framed and was running from the law...Batman was actually trying to help him out and get him out of trouble but Slade didn't trust him or the police and thought the only way he could survive was by making his own way.

Originally almost all of Slade's encounters with heroes were motivated either by his misguided attempts at honoring/helping his kids or because someone had framed/tricked/manipulated him.

It was only in the last decade that writers stopped caring about that angle and just made him a supervillain dick.

Yeah I can maybe agree with that. Better to be an amoral merc than to be a straight up evil cackling mastermind supervillain. Still I'd hope that the writer would try to inject some moral complexity rather than apparently just focusing on the technical aspects of the character (him being badass)
