It seems that every adventure superman had still happened in the past but got manipulated by Vind-whatever-ix has manipulated them away or so I read in the comic and heard on CBR.

Vyndktvx.

Captain Carrot reinvented!

"I have just completed scripting the first two issues of an on-going series for DC Comics. Can’t say what the title is until DC wants the news out. But I imagine a lot of people will be quite surprised to see me take over the writing chores on this particular property. Been having a (surprisingly) fun time with it so far."

So according to Gail Simone's twitter-

"On Wednesday of last week, new Batgirl editor Brian Cunningham informed me by email that I was no longer the writer of Batgirl. It is baffling and sad, I will probably have a statement later today or maybe tomorrow. "

That sucks.

Yeah, it definitely sucks for her. Gail is one of my favorite writers at DC, but her Batgirl never did pull me in. So, I'm happy that there would be a new writer on the book. I'll probably still won't read it, because I don't care for Barabra. I'm more of a Cassandra fan, myself.

Sucks, because Gail is probably going to leave DC.

In better news, JM Dematteis will co-write Phantom Stranger.

It's a real shame for Gail.

By email? That's just bad form. I really hope DC make it up to her somehow.

i'm gonna have to stop reading Batgirl now... Simone is one of the few writers that seems to get female characters, so I can't imagine who'll be up next.

Rumor has it its Jim Starlin. I kid you not.

Also consider there was a rumor out before this, to which she denied that she was still on Batgirl.

I didn't love her Batgirl-Babs run, but at the same time I have a hard time picturing anyone else doing any better.

One bit of speculation that I'm hearing is that DC wants their books less linked to specific writers in people's minds, so plans on doing more shuffling around than they used to. Hopefully false.

Interestingly, when a follower tweeted at her, "Did you not put enough women in refrigerators or something?", referring to her coining of the phrase about the treatment of women in comics (Kyle Rayner's girlfriend was murdered and stuffed in his fridge). Simone simply replied, "Funny you should say that."

I think brian q could do better. Unfortanately dc isnt giving him more work.

He's on Smallville.

And yes, I too think he could do a pretty good Batgirl if given the chance 😉

I feel bad for Simone. For my money she's still the best writer of strong female characters in the business. Few writers can write women as being tough and yet vulnerable at the same time (Palmiotti and Gray are the others that come to mind, Morrison too). Her run on Birds of Prey is seminal, and she really does deserve better.
