The funny thing is that out of JLA/Shazam, Aquaman, and Firestorm, the latter is the only one that has been phucked-over by the revamp. The others have been improved by a decent margin(ie. I'd have a LOT more work to do than you guys.)Poor 'storm. 🙁
That's true, but that's why I'd give it to you; I doubt you'd trust anyone else at this point 😛

Lol, true. Come to think of it, I'd also have the most room for error. JLA/Shazam & Aquaman(esp. Aquaman) have been written extremely well-- they'd be a hard act to follow.Firestorm, on the other hand, has been so terrible that anything I did(literally) would be an improvement. 😄
😂
That is true.
I'd love to give Aquaman a try, though I don't know if people would really dig how much of a magical element i'd bring to the book (Poseidon, the greek pantheon etc).

Same. Given all the work Peter David did with the character in establishing that Atlantis was a very magic heavy place, I honestly feel like It would be better if they started to go back to that a little more. I can appreciate Johns wanting to ground the book somewhat, but I think there's room for both kinds of storytelling in that book.
Plus, who doesn't to see Aquaman unleash something like the Kraken or Charybdis against a villain.
I completely agree on the magical aspect on Aquaman. The storyline potential with Poseidon and Greek mythology is huge.
Although PAD did some cool stuff with it preboot (prolly my fave AQ story pre-Johns), I have no doubt Johns can do much more with the whole Atlantean world building.
BTW I think that at least some sort of magic connection will be explored in the current storyline with the Dead King character. He is supposed to be the one who created the Atlantean artifacts, and they are magic.
I expect Johns to deliver, like he has so far.

TBH, the fact that we have a good selling, popular Aquaman book is enough for me not to get too angry about it. Johns has made some decisions I flat out dislike, but I'll give him a pass because he continues to write Aquaman at a level i'd been hoping he would (as I would write him around the same, personally, and have done in rps), and for that, I can only be grateful.

Yeah, it's hard to be too critical of Johns' portrayal of Aquaman, when this is far and away the best he's been written(on a consistent basis) in his 50+ year history.
I think you could make a strong case that PAD was better, but tbh I'm not going to split hairs with how good Johns has been. It doesn't hurt that he's taken a completely different approach to the character either.

Yep. Even casual fans are starting to respect Aquaman, and not just from comics. Just look at how ridiculous beastly the dude is in Injustice (both in gameplay and in the storyline).
And the Robot Chicken special. Who saves the day? ****ing Aquaman, that's who.
Seriously though, if the talk of animated and live features is true, Aquaman's in the process of getting a Daniel Bryan-esque push.
Nice interview from Vendetti on GL.

Relic is, first and foremost, a scientist. He isn't inherently super-powered beyond the proportionate strength and durability that comes with his increased size, so his abilities -- both offensive and defensive -- are derived from the technology he surrounds himself with -- and he has quite an arsenal. These are things we haven't seen before, and the Green Lantern Corps certainly hasn't gone up against anything like it in their history. One thing I'll also add is, while Relic's attitude toward Hal and the Green Lanterns certainly isn't benevolent, my hope is that readers will at least be able to sympathize on some level with his cause.
