I definitely feel like the book was written more for new readers than the established fanbase. Despite my personal enjoyment I could see why people who have been following this universe for a long time would be underwhelmed and disappointed by the book. I meanSpoiler:
teasing a battle between superman and batman at the end - something that's happened so many times already (hell, even I who just started reading about a month ago have already read about 3 instances of these two fighting eachother) seems to be aiming to excite new readers who have never seen these two fight.

Hm. A bit surprising. Even Barry Allen gets completly rebooted, effectively nullifying everything Johns has done with him.

That is odd.
I got the impression that Barry was going to be one of the few people who actually recalled the whole Flashpoint thing.
On a side topic, I was wondering about the GL mythos. How does Hal's fall from grace as Parallax fit into this concise timeline? Or is it more likely that Hal never became possessed by Parallax? Just how far back are they deciding to keep GL stuff canon?
Seems like the span of 5 years is very short to have Hal's inception into the Corps, the introduction of the other Earth Lanterns, Hal's role as Parallax and Spectre, his death and revival, the whole build up to the War of Light, Brightest Day, and War of the Green Lanterns.

I honestly have no idea how they'll fit it all in, but it looks like most of it will have happened anyway.
Voodoo w/ Marz. I have to admit, this is now one of my most anticipated titles. Espionage ftw. "La Femme Nikita" like.

I figure they'll either handwave it away and say "It happened anyway", or Johns will use the reboot as a way to make his golden boy Hal even more golden by removing all the Parallax stuff...
Going by the link Phil posted, the lack of Wally makes a little more sense now, seeing as Barry is being completely changed (It's still not excusable, but there's more logic to it now other than "not enough time, but Batman and GL all still happened"😉

The 'Parallax-dynamic' was good before Johns started writing GL... Back when we all thought Hal just snapped.Sidenote: will there still be alternate universes/timelines, or is the reboot supposed to merge all continuities (kind of like what happened during the original Crisis)..?
Morrison has said the New Gods still exist on Earth 51, so that suggests all 52 Earths are still around.

As someone who has a read a large chunk of Superman, I dislike the attitude change but it's definitely interesting.
Exactly what was Superman trying to accomplish in that entire scene?
