Fine. Neither Van Zan nor McClane have a legit H2H win. Doesn't change the fact that Van Zan clearly shows better H2H skill than McClane ever has.

And McClane shows:

One-punch KO power.

Superhuman durability. (you really need to watch DH5)

Impossible stamina. (you really need to watch DH5)

Clearly McClane beats tattoo boy. Stop being a clown and bring back sensible 2011/12 Lestov.

i preferred the late 2010 robtard. when he lost his internet for 6 months.

I'm lost to what you're referencing?

oh i forgot you're sensitive now. nevermind.

What are you talking about F4C? Because it's pretty poor form.

Anyways.............

FrothByte,

You should really watch DH5 before you continue on the "normal cop" angle. McClane stopped being normal in DH4, arguably DH3, but absolutely nothing normal about him anymore in DH5, the character was turned into a super-hero-like character.

Admittedly, I haven't watched DH5. I was basing my arguments on DH1-4. I still consider him pretty "normal-ish" in DH4 since a chick was able to beat him up pretty good.

In any case, I actually stopped posting in this thread because I haven't watched DH5, but I couldn't resist replying to the "Quinn is malnourished" angle.. and then from there I guess I got suckered into the debate again.

Anyway, will get back to you once I've finished DH5.

i dont understand your insistance that mcclane couldnt even touch van zan. quinn got shots in at him. you're making him out to be some sort of phantom ninja that cannot be followed by eye nor hand.

Just to weigh in here. The only time Quinn got to hit Van Zan was cheapshotting him when he wasn't looking. Other than that, Quinn was able to tackle Zan when Zan was backing away trying to walk away from the fight. Quinn never got to hit him after that.

Please don't compare Quinn to McClane.
I hope your previous arguments have'nt been based on Quinn getting a shot on Zan.

I didn't compare Quinn to McClane on that post. I was merely correcting the fallacious argument that Quinn "got shots in" at Van Zan.

Oh riiiight. That Chick that he let live after KOing her, til she abused the privilage and he was forced to take her out in the most vengeful/yet socially acceptable and entertaining way possible, saving Matthew and also the eastern seasboard, you mean? 🙂

Yup that chick. Sure he beat her at the end, still doesn't change the fact the he got pretty beat up by a girl. Or are you going to tell me that the asian chick didn't even hurt him?

Oh damn this argument again.

She was a fricken ninja! Did you see what the guy counterpart could do in the movie?
They were freaks and McClane survived them. He adapted and killed them.
The fact that you argue Zan winning this fight is beyond me.

Beaten up implies that she some how beat him and caused him damage, which as we know is inaccurate.

She may have temporarily inconvenienced him, but thats about it.

She demonstrated ridiculous damage soak in that fight and she certainly would have killed Van Zan.

She definitely would've killed Zan. I'm certain of that.

Alright alright cool down. Yes, I know she was very skilled and yet McClane beat them. All I'm trying to say here is that at least we see McClane still getting hurt, still being out-skilled (if not out-fought) and that at least makes him semi-relatable to the average guy. At least he still gets hurt, still bleeds, still takes hits... unlike more superhero-like killing machines like Jason Bourne or Frank Martin.

But apparently from what you guys have said, he's upgraded up to that category in DH5?

You believe McClane's resistance to the ninja chick in DH4 makes him "semi-relatable" to the average guy?

The ninjas in Die Hard 4 were more extreme than the Bourne films as you quoted. And don't pretend they weren't.

This is crazy talk.

You are completely missing the point here. I am NOT comparing the ninjas to Bourne. I am comparing McClane to Bourne. I am saying, that because we still see McClane get hurt, bleed, knocked-out, hospitalized, and sometimes get out-skilled in a fight, it makes him more relatable than some of the more untouchable action heroes like Frank Martin. I mean, how many times have you see Frank Martin cut, bleed, or knocked out? Compare that to how many times we've seen McClane hurt or in dire straits.

Because Lihn was just some chick, comparable to a soccer mom from Ohio and not an obviously highly trained person with considerable H2H skill and capable of surviving being hit by a speeding truck?

Till then.
