McClane doesnt 'always rely on weapons'.
Not only does McClane have damage soak that is off of all conventional scales, but DH 1 and DH5 show him one shotting people with lightning fast hooks that put out enough energy to sound like this guy being shot out of a cannon into a concrete wall at 500mph...
And both the guys in DH5 he Joe Frazier'd were as tough as or tougher than Van Zan, and one was a Russian secret service tough who actually had a machine gun on McClane at the time..
