Thanos wouldn't have died but I think he would have been in pretty bad shape if Morg had connected cleanly.

Oh ya, it would have never happened either way. If the axe wasn't there, he would have grabbed it, or he would have never got put in that 'danger'. But that's comics for you.

Morg's similar strokes were pounding on Surfer's back without so much as a cut, meh

Any Herald doing well against Thanos is something Quanchi has tried his best to keep under raps. As a Thor fan, I'd know.
