Its going to involve something to do with how Newt drifted with a Kaiju brain and all the brains are connected, So yeah draw your own conclusions.

No, the sequel wasn't confirmed, they just had Guillermo and the writer start working on a *treatment* for a script for a sequel. Quite different from confirmation, which is still fairly unlikely.

Though in lighter news, the domestic+worldwide take has now topped the production budget.

No, sequel *not* confirmed. A sequel treatment- not even a script, let alone a confirmation- was requested. That's all.

That said, it is nearing the 300m total (international + domestic) mark without Japan or Brazil even out yet, so the talk at the moment is 'maybe sequel'. 400m, or twice the production budget, is generally when a sequel could be considered pretty safe.

Apparently a kiss ending was shot, but Del Toro thought it just didn't work.

Which I think was a good call- romance is not mandatory in an action flick! The two mains have a very close relationship that doesn't need romance to be strong.
