I can't say I disapprove of seeing Anne Hathaway in this outfit, but this still looks stupid as shit... Nolan has his work cut out for him if he's gonna keep this from being stupid.

There is an observation going around that movie posters always has the fems with their butt to the camera.

Supposedly, America is still sexist and the only way a female "hero" can be put on a movie poster is if they have their butt to the camera.

Except Hitgirl. Thank god.

But yes, that tends to be true. I see nothing wrong with attractive actors, theres as many hot men as women, but treating woman as eyecandy to sell your movie is lame.

Yeah. Aside from that though, what's up with Catwoman having a gun?

*Shrug* It doesn't bother me none. Kind of a funny observation, though. This Watchmen poster comes to mind, too...

But the Elektra posters didn't expose the butt, neither did Halle Berry's Catwoman (however her breasts were rather accentuated, so I guess that makes up for it).. But shit, I mean, if you look at comics of females their asses and breasts are all ripplingly attractive, so it just comes with the comic book influence. It's how they should look... superb bodies. I mean, you're not likely to see flabby male heros with beer guts 'n shit either...

But I guess I just didn't expect this kind of thing from Nolan's Batman films. I kind of thought of his films as set apart from the other adaptations. But now it's starting to look just like Shumacker's atrocities with goofy costumes 'n shit. He might be selling out a bit... trying to put asses in the seats with typical sex appeal.

Nolan, like so many other directors have little say in how their movies are marketed. They may come up with conceptual art but the production company hardly turns back to the director for their input into promotional posters.

Which doesn't make sense, considering the success of these films. You'd think they'd give the man more control... if that is indeed the issue. He may have approved this stuff, though..

Indeed.

To prove my point...spam...

It makes total sense in that the production company HIRES the director to direct their movie.
Once the movie is completed, the director is no longer needed & his contract deemed complete. He has no further say on how the movie will be marketed or even released.
In some cases too, the director has no say how the movie's edited either.

All 4 promo posters above are classic examples of "The Golden Triangle" rule when it comes to composition in art. Three points in an image that trains the eye to focus on the "important" aspect of the image.

With Elektra & G.I Joe, the way both figures are standing with their legs apart creating the "golden triangle". Your eyes travel visually up-wards firstly noticing the sex appeal of the character (their butts) & then lastly the seriousness & deadliness of their facial expression.

With Aeon & No Return, the Golden Triangle Rule once again lets your eyes travel up-wards (travelling up the arms) to the seriousness of their facial expression.

Lol.....what else is new with you....

That outfit looks exactly like the catsuit that the woman agent used to wear on "The Avengers" [the spies, not the superheroes]. It's directly from the sixties. Nolan had been really good about making the classic Batman suit have a need for every detail - like the mask's eyes being able to do a scan of a room.

Hathaway's Catwoman looks more like what "grown up girls" wear on Halloween at the bar.
What's the function of the ears? Do they have mini-radar? or mini-recorders? And all that hair loose is "The Incredibles" saying, "No capes with superhero costumes!" I'll find it very entertaining when she's trying to hide behind a tree and a sudden breeze comes up, letting loose those Tresseme locks.

Yeah the more I see any trailer, the less high hopes I'm having.

My biggest concern being (like the previous movie) is that Batman himself will hardly get much screen time because the story itself will be too epic & multi character driven.

^^ Mr. Moviephone over hee-ya.

Just watched the latest trailer, looks awesome.

As with the last one, the film's power seems like it will draw itself from the villain. Bane looks and sounds extremely formidable and I have high hopes. But Baleman and Catwoman aren't so lucky.
