The Dark Knight Rises

still not really digging the choice to cast such a (relatively) small actor for the role of Bane, but it's probably better than having someone who can't act.

Honestly, I'm not sure how much Hardy's ability to act will matter. His voice is synthesized and his face hidden behind a mask. Essentially, he's a step or so away from being relegated to David Prowse status.

The previews for this don't have the awe and attraction that Begins and TDK did. Still watching it though.

i know what you mean, I'm not as excited about this one as i was with TDK, and i think it has something to do with the villains.

if that's the case, they could have cast someone who actually fit the role in terms of size. hardy is a damn dwarf compared to comic Bane.

isn't it july yet?? i am sooo excited to see this.. can't wait.. looks damn good

Surprised this wasn't brought up, but I like how Bale seems to have toned down the Bat-voice that most didn't seem to like in TDK and was often ridiculed. Now he sounds more like he did as Batman in Begins, which I prefer. Bane's voice was also fixed a bit, which is pretty good.

Have you seen Hardy in Warrior?
The movie which pitted two brothers against each other in cage fighting.

He had the body & mentality that would do justice to a movie Bane.

okay? I do not disagree.

My problem is with Hardy's size in relation to the actual character's. I think he'll be fine outside of that one issue.

Things written in this post are only rumored(to my knowledge) but may be spoiler-ish so read no further if you do not wish to know.

I have a problem with Bane also. I think Hardy can play Bane but what bothers me is the version of bane they are giving us doesn't feel pain instead of getting stronger. I was hoping that at the least he would have a "homemade steroid" he calls venom that would at the least just push the limits of the human body or increases the amount of muscle fibers at use in the human body. I like the outfit...the mask...well it grows on you! I could live with him allegedly being a part of the league of shadows but Im not happy about his "power" set.

I think the whole point of Nolan's Bane (that he doesn't feel pain rather than the ability of "getting stronger"😉 is more to emphasise that Batman is still a human-being after all.

It's going to look like a ridiculous fight knowing that Bane's so much stronger but still gets defeated by Batman. And the audience will cry "foul" & unfair if Batman resorts to the Bat-Bazooka to blow Bane to smithereens.

I mean, we've all seen from Schumacher's version of Bane & also in the cartoons that all it takes to defeat Bane is to yank out those tubes that pump him with steroids & Bane changes back to a weakling. So yeah IMO a villain that feels no pain is a better foe than someone who can double in strength.

the Bane from Batman Beyond didn't have the pumps, he had little patches that he slapped on his arms... i always thought that was a cool and modern take on the character.

I remember those patches & I remember how those bloody tubes always screamed,"I'm a ridiculous concept...rip me out!"

While I get what you're saying Bane pushing the limits of the human body would work by showing batman being more skillful and smarter.

as for the tube why do we need them? apparently the mask feeds bane the formula to not feel pain....why couldn't the mask deliver the aforementioned steroid? The change up from the tubes could be something like...to much extended uses of this drug could cause major fatigue....Batman could take advantage out of this by fighting him with his brain so that bane defeats himself. Kind of how batman beat ras's father in the comics.

I agree! That would be an awesome update to the character for the movie!

Over all im gonna give this movie a watch obviously but I fear some people are already decided this movie rocks because TDK was good and i don't think that's a good enough reason. Im not saying it's gonna suck but I don't believe it will be as good as the other two films. Regardless I don't like the way bane was created but that doesn't mean I wont enjoy the movie!

Well regardless of whether Nolan's Bane has tubes or no tubes like Schumacher's ( & comic/cartoon) version, I'll still be betting money that part of Bane's defeat will start with Batman ripping off his mask.

I agree with that 100%.....Im sure it will be done much more stylish but it is reminiscent of the tube being yanked out

Okay seriously, how many actors can you name that begin to give Bane's build justice?

Conan Stevens (The dude who played Gregor Clegane in the first season of Game of Thrones)
Dwayne Johnson

... That's all I got. 😐

Lol, Bane in Beyond was a withered old man. The pads were just used by random people and villains.

Well that's the point about choosing someone to play Bane.

It's alot easier to get an actor to build up on body mass than it is to train a body-builder (wrestler, pro-footballer) to act.

No amount of muscle will change the fact that Tom Hardy is like 5'10" at best, lol.

Bane in the comics is 6'8" for those interested (Compared to Batman's 6'2"😉. Christian Bale is closer to six foot even.

So Batman will be taller than Bane.
