Lol, Bane in Beyond was a withered old man. The pads were just used by random people and villains.
okay?

Okay seriously, how many actors can you name that begin to give Bane's build justice?

Conan Stevens (The dude who played Gregor Clegane in the first season of Game of Thrones)
Dwayne Johnson

... That's all I got. 😐

the dude i replied to said Hardy's acting ability wouldn't matter much, i don't agree with that sentiment and said they could have just found someone to fit the look if acting wasn't a factor... i didn't say it had to be a well known actor, or even a good one.

I mean, did you know who Brandon Routh was before Superman Returns? I didn't.

the guy from Troy and The Protector, Nathan Jones.

No amount of muscle will change the fact that Tom Hardy is like 5'10" at best, lol.

Bane in the comics is 6'8" for those interested (Compared to Batman's 6'2"😉. Christian Bale is closer to six foot even.

So Batman will be taller than Bane.

That's where camera angles & padded footwear come into play.

Worked for Stallone in the Rocky movies & also Tom Cruise as well.

Comic book dimensions have always been overly exaggerated.

Seriously, let's say Arnie (in his prime) got to play Bane. He'd look great for the part but could you honestly believe he'd look intelligent enough to spout Nolan dialogue & have the audience convinced?

Kevin Durand, the guy who played Blob in Origins, he's 6'6".

He is tall, but not that thick. I prefer Hardy's proportions with the thick look.

Things I've learned today...That Myth values girth over length.

i don;t have a problem with hardy as bane.. neither does nolan as he wanted the character to actually act as well as make people forget the travesty known as batman and robin where bane just grunted

You realise that with Lord of the Rings, Ian McKellan wasn't really 4 feet taller than Elijah Wood?

Besides...I think he'll do just fine

I see no problem with a guy, my height, playing Bane.

I also do not see a problem with it due to what they did with the effects (that word is plural, for a reason) of Xerxes in 300.

Rodrigo Santoro is about 6'2". Gerard Butler is also 6'2".

Bam....

🙂

What role will Joseph Gordon-Levitt play as a beat cop?

Seriously.

He definitely isn't Robin or Azrael. So, what will he do?

Yeah, I think with the magic that they can create for movies these days, a mere height discrepancy is easily managed.

Nolan didn't really seem to give a damn 'cause Batman and Bane look to be the same height in the trailer.

i don't.. besides all this hate could very well subside come july.. see the film first from start to finish and then decide.. besides another example would be of hugh jackman portraying wolverine who is a whole foot taller than the comic book character, and yet he has made the role his own.. also nolan wasn;t going for comic bookness when he hired hardy

He specifically said he didn't want a superhuman unrealistic bad guy

^ that has been obvious since Begins.

Love the Nolan movies and his realistic approach, but if they're gonna reboot the franchise again i want a REAL Batman movie... one where he's kicking trees in half and dodging bullets. I'd be happy with a live action version of Batman: Year One.

Very wise words and i agree fully: wait till the movie before passing judgement...on a film not intended to be a live-action replica of the comic books.

In the Batman section of KMC, someone posted that the description of JGL's action figure has the description that he's code-name is Azrael & that his character, wanting to take Bane down, has been feeding Batman info of Bane's actions.

jgl would make a good nightwing, imo.. skip the robin phase altogether.. but first, azrael.. seeing as how bane will probably, most likely, break the bat..
