I think one of the biggest problems with One Piece at the moment honestly can be traced to Marineford. It was literally the biggest event of the series, involving the most powerful Pirate in the world taking on the Government in full. Luffy gets caught in the middle of it all and makes a scene almost as big as the one Blackbeard did. It was and exciting arc to be sure but what made it great was how huge the scale was.

Come the timeskip and things seem to be off to a good start with the Government immediately responding to the resurgence of the Straw Hats and getting stomped(Luffy stomping a Pacifista with no difficulty remains probably the most impressive thing he's done post time skip, though I can see arguments for his taming of the Kraken and exchanging blows with Jimbei). Great! Wonderful! These Straw Hats seem like they can really stand up to the Government...and then we get an arc of Fishmen. Fishmen heroes, Fishmen villains, and nothing else, save for one boring ass pirate. Remember the best parts of this arc? Learning about Akainu vs Aokiji, Blackbeard becoming Yonkou, and Luffy challenging Big Mom. None of this had anything to do with the majority of the arc. And here in Punk Hazzard, what were the most interesting moments? Seeing Law(ShichibukaiZOMG!?), seeing a glimpse of Kid(fingers crossed he becomes a member of the Alliance) and hearing about an Alliance vs one of the Yonkou.

I'm more interested in shit that we're going to see than anything going on around us. =/

I'm probably going to rate Bleach over Naruto this week, but I'll need some time to organize my thoughts regarding Bleach's chapter. Knowing the Byakuya's actually dead, and that his death was as gruesome as it was. It's a bit too much to take in.

At least the chapter goes to explain what the marines meant when they said Law gave many pirate hearts to the government, we already suspected it was something like that but we got confirmation. So as far as we know, Law is still somewhat of a good guy -for all we know-, but sucks at making bargains. We will see later on how it all plays.

All in all, OP hasn't changed that much from its narrative, it's just that people are expecting too much stuff out of the blue.

The Naruto chapter was cool, but Kakashi needs to pull his weight.

I honestly do not care about Law and his confusing powers. I hate Caesar, I hate Punk Hazard, I want to leave. :T

Conclusive fights, plot progress and revelations, dramatic moments or strong humor, etc..

I mean, Naruto had some fighting, but nothing progressed really, we just got it reiterated that Tobi's badass. There weren't even new powers shown.

Fairy Tail, it was mainly only the formation of the Fairy Tail superteam.

Bleach was strong because we had progress, we had Renji chip in, we had the Kenpachi thing.

One Piece... it had Caesar start to unveil his experiment and the bit about the Heart exchange.. hm, thinking about it, that was cool, I'll bump it up some. But it still obviously wasn't a grade-A chapter.

Uh...Guy has never shown such skill with weapons before. He used one pair of nunchaku before but here he is using three like a pro. Also worth noting is Naruto's ability to use the Bijuu bomb in miniature form. The latter might not be new since we saw it attempted but the former certainly is.

It feels like Caesar has been starting to unveil his experiment for quite a while now. And the heart exchange was dumb, not cool.

True, but in both cases those are small variants.

I mean, they're not bad chapters either, but compare to when Naruto got full partnership with Kurama. *That's* a high grade chapter.

Re-thinking it, Bleach, then Naruto, then FT, then One Piece (while I did like the heart thing, it really wasn't enough to bump it).

The heart is a very sensitive organ, tamper with it, and it poses problems for anyone, no matter who you are, since you need the heart to actually move. It's not a weak feat and it give the person who possesses the ability a huge advantage since your opponent wouldn't be aware of it.
