McClane is a master of his environment. So if there's a scuba tank. it's going up Jaws' ass and then being exploded.

The bullets will have far less velocity underwater. Also, a 9mm round is not as powerful as a .357.
Even if McClane were shooting at Jaws' body that is exposed to the air, the bullets will do nothing. This is not some run of the mill shark, it's Jaws.
But again, the scuba tank is a game changer.

You said a bullet to the brain from 8 feet will kill Jaws and I proved you wrong, that's all. If a larger, more powerful bullet won't do the job, then a smaller, less powerful won't do the job.

.357 is a bigger, more powerful bullet than a 9mm.
Mcclane is lucky enough to not only shoot the beast in a vulnerbale postion, but also that the bullet would after penetrating, find it's way to the compressed air tank. (which was in Jaws' mouth, anyways IIRC)
And no awards would have to be given to those who could predict what 2 word (11 then 12 letters) catchphrase that would be said as Jaws explodes....
