If you're comparing the artistic skill/integrity of Michael Bay and Ridley Scott, I'm afraid that's not a contest. Ridley wins by a large margin.

cant get into mila kunis movies for some reason think shes kinda overrated personally.anyhow the movie was zhit. But then again I said man of steel was crap, it took 3 years and watching it 3 or 4 times till i finally liked the movie, same with prometheus.
Mila Kunis is overrated and, don't worry, Man of Steel was shit.
My expectations for this film are pretty low, so I think I'll enjoy it. Ala Q99, what I'm mostly looking for is just some decent sci-fi/world building.

Yes. Maybe.
Visually, it's impressive. In setting and action. Plotwise, it's nothing to write home about, but I liked the characters ok. They aren't my favs but they're better than Prometheus's cast or the Transformers movies' casts. The big complain about Jupiter is, really, she's not more of an action character, but she is an entirely different type of protagonist to start with (I've heard it compared to Labyrinth, Princess Diaries, or Twilight, but in space... though Jupiter is certainly better than Bella Swan!).
This is one I'm probably going to see again, because there is stuff there to like and it's weird enough that one doesn't see much stuff like it.
So, I say go for it, at least if any of that sounds cool to you. You won't see a movie visually this good elsewhere this year, and you will see a SF setting that's pretty darn interesting.
You'll also see a space werewolf guy fight a space dragon in the middle of a giant hurricane, in space. That alone is worth a lot in my book!

Prometheus vs Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Both insulted my intelligence to the point of anger in terms of character and plot. This is a toughie....
Ooh, toughie indeed.
Lesse, to put it another way, I'd rather watch Jupiter Ascending on a loop two or three times than watch those two.
