Calm down.
Excite up.

I have seen it suggested that the Wachowskis have a serious grudge against walls, because Caine Wise destroyed so many going through them. Heck, even when he wasn't, he still wouldn't use proper doors, instead hyper-teching through doors and windows.

I'll be glad when they reboot the Transformers movie franchise, Just needs a fresh take on the whole thing.

Yes, of course 🙂

Now that you mention it, I think lots of walls were destroyed in The Matrix movies. Fu#k you, walls!!! You will die!! 😆

this is nice movie. I watched this movie.

Read one review basically pointing out the dialogu in the movie making little sense

still going to be checking it out when the movie opens here.

I don't agree with the title, but cool stuff none-the-less...

Some concept art...

Yea, I disagree with the title too, but that is some beautiful art.

Watched it yesterday, found it to be awful.

I did enjoy the extravagant style of the large space ships, reminded me slightly of WH40k.

A bit of 40k, a bit of Dune, a bit of Fifth Element...

Movie was, predictably, complete shit from a plot/characterization perspective, and I'm not sure if Mila Kunis is just a terrible actress or if the dialogue given to her was just really bad.

Awesome special FX though- really, really good. I liked the setting as well and the designs of everything (especially the dragon people, the guy randomly wearing a leather jacket was so lulzy we laughed about it hours after leaving the theater).

I liked the setting so much that it made it all the more frustrating to watch the film waste its setting potential by focusing on these entirely uninteresting characters and their entirely uninteresting plot.

I saw it again, still liked it ^^ And the person I was with had fun too, and didn't get why the reviews were so harsh.

The plot and characterization still seemed fine to me. Not really as grand as the setting to be sure, but a fairly straightforward 'hidden princess' story, but in space.

See, to me, a movie like this only gets better with repeat viewings because it is well directed with such a grand setting.

But I do agree that Mila Kunis isn't exactly an amazing actress. She's mostly pretty to look at. But Keanu Reeves' acting skills werent exactly meant to carry the Matrix movies either. It's the setting, ideas, action and supporting cast.

Yea, she's not one of the greats, but if, say, one compares the "I love dogs," scene to Star Wars' "I hate sand," the former comes across as way better.

In part because Jupiter comes across as over-ernest there, and in part because she regrets it almost immediately ^^

In fact I think the main characters (Keanu/Mila) being sort of plain and unassuming plays well into the theme that they are ordinary people caught up into extraordinary circumstances. So their roles aren't really meant to be the juicy parts. They provide contrast to the grand setting. It would be overload and annoying if they had boisterous personalities or something.

Interesting article- Jupiter Ascending is the first trashy SF movie for women

Interesting article indeed. But it is still an action flick, which (stereotypically at least) is a male thing. So it would have been difficult to market any other way even if the studio had tried. To me it was pretty clear that Mila Kunis was the special focus and not Channing Tatum, but like a real relationship they shared the spotlight. They were both main characters.

Also an interesting interview with Kunis. Sounds like a grueling shoot, but like the interviewer said, the action came out pretty seemless and spectacular.

I'd think with the marketing, you'd want to mix things a bit. Toss in a few shots of their faces close, Channing shirtless, the scene of Jupiter with her gun on him, him saying, "Your Majesty...".

Still have action and such in the ads, but enough to let female SF fans know a bit more of what was going on.

Yeah, there are definitely some editing choices they could have done differently, but I still don't think it would made the movie any more successful at the box office. It doesn't seem as important as say Dredd 3D when it was advertised as a cheap, gimmicky 3D flick, but was actually really good, 3D or not.

Oh, I don't think it would've saved it, there's probably not enough overlap between the target genre and action-space opera, but I think they could've done a bit better than they did.

Yeah, true that.

Anyway, I look forward to see this again.
